Sunday's "deep thought" - It's a boating thing
Suppose you bought a new boat and was going to name it after your cancer situation. What would you call it?

Invasive COVID Tests
I was reading a question (from another site) earlier today that made me just think about the "testing" process. If it is possible for modern science to do a complete DNA mapping on you from a cheek swab, and one of the main methods of transmission seems to be through oral droplets and unintentional "spray," wouldn't it…

As caregiver do you have to get pushy sometimes ?
My husband had a stroke on Thursday. He has been at one of the large medical facilities in Dallas since he was finally admitted. I took him to a smaller (closer) facility first but they didn't have a neurologist or the equipment for the tests he needed (MRI machine, I guess) so he was transported by ambulance to this large…

Have you heard someone say "that's gonna leave a mark", after someone has gotten smacked by somethin
Most of us that have been diagnosed with cancer already have a few marks from it. Either surgery, treatments, or side effects of both leave marks on us. I posted an article about some of the obvious and some not-so-obvious ways that cancer has left marks on me. Here is the link to the article>> https://bit.ly/3iWxUU0 How…

I was reading the question about pain meds not working for someone.
I have a different problem. I keep my pain meds in my medicine cabinet in my bathroom. Just me and my spouse are here. I take them exactly as they are supposed to be taken so I never take too many. I ran short last month, and this month I thought the bottle was looking like there wasn't enough so I counted. I will be 5…

What works best for you for anit-nausea from chemo?
I'm looking for what choices there are, I've asked the nurse giving me treatment but she just said, 'oh there are lots of them', and left the room. Not helpful. I want to compare, try something different.

Neck & Shoulder pain after Mastectomy
I have a great deal of pain (that comes and goes) in my neck and shoulders, especially the right side. I have made adjustments to how I sit at my desk/computer for work and have begun seeing a chiropractor. It is better, sometimes. Anyone else experience similar issues?

when you go in for chemo are you in a room with several other people or by yourself in a small room?
My center has a fairly large room and about 24 chairs can be filled. As the room starts to fill everyone starts to share about their day, their week, their problems or just what they've been up to. It's kind of nice to chat with everyone while the chemo drips. It passes the time. I've heard of some places where you never…

I am breaking down and letting them put a port in. I need your pros and cons please
I have read good things, but I've also read nightmare stories about them coming undone, moving, one person said theirs came out, which I don't even know how that would be possible. I think it will be for the best, but I would like to hear from people that have actually had one, used it, and your results good or bad. Too…

The Cost of Kindness
I have been thinking about this a lot. People say it costs nothing to be kind. If that were true, likely many people would be much kinder. The greatest "cost" of kindness is engaging and connecting with another person. We have morphed into this world where "Grumpy Cat" says "I hate people." It's become the norm to gripe…

Really was jealous of Greg
Got off the phone with my surgeon a bit ago. Blobby the mass is a recurrence of the endometrial cancer. Da mn it! Still processing. I'm off to make follow ups with my surgeons and call my chemo guy. You've heard of Love in the Time of Cholera? Now we have Cancer in the Time of Pandemic.

Have you considered that your outlook on your entire cancer situation will affect how you view each
Your port: Do you consider it a piece of a foreign object inside of your body, or do you consider it a tool that is a great piece of modern technology that is helping to save you? Chemo: do you consider it a poison that's trying to kill you, or do you look at it as the wonderful juice that's killing your cancer and setting…

The overall public ignorance about everything to do with this coronavirus is just amazing to me
I continue to read post after post online from people that I used to think were average, intelligent people. But when I read things like, this is all a hoax that was brought on by the democrats and it will magically disappear after the election. Or one person said that "they heard" that an unused box of 10 testing swabs…

I can already see that I am going to have a body covered with scars after this is all over.
What have you done to minimize the scarring? Are there any creams that will help?

Has your doctor, ENT, Oncologist, radiology oncologist ever called you out of the blue and asked if
Today, my clinical trial doctor, (I have one for the trial, oncologist, ENT surgical oncologist, now) called today to ask if I could "come on down to the clinic". Like it was around the block. He apparently doesn't know that I am 3 hours away. I will have to have a talk with him about that. Anyway, my office mgr. asked…

Has anyone had a liquid biopsy?
Biopsies are one of the first tests that tell us what type of cancer we have, or if it's cancer at all. Liquid biopsies are one of the newest types today. Our blog post today has more about what they are, how they are done, and what they can tell us. Click here for the article>> https://bit.ly/2Odfwbu

Have any of you taken the drug Zarxio to keep your WBC up?
My blood counts have been consistently running low and my doctor said that if they are low again the next time he will start me on Zarxio. I've never heard of it, of course, I've never heard of a lot of medical things until this started. Just wondering if anyone here has taken it and if there were side effects from it.

When you were diagnosed with cancer did you think it was a death sentence?
I have been told to 'relax, it's only skin cancer". But I've also read so many cases of people who died from melanoma, (skin cancer). So when I was diagnosed I was convinced that this was it. I've slowed up on that line of thought now, but I'm still filled with fear.

OK people, I'm scared, don't know what to do. I need surgery but because of covid nobody can come
I will be alone going in, when I wake up, and even for 14 days in the hospital. I won't be able to see my kids, any family, or anyone period. I am about to cancel it. I don't know what to do.

anybody else going to spend the 4th in the hospital?
This sucks! Even though there's not much going on out in the world because of the covid virus, and we had canceled our plans to have family and friends over to our house, it still would be better than this! A late night bout with uncontrollable pain took me to the ER, I've been here all night and was admitted but still no…

Pain killer effectiveness - I am on some what I think are mild dose hydrocodone pain killers 300 mg.
When I take one they don't seem to do much. I do get a little deadening of the pain, but nothing, like I thought, would happen. I thought the pain would stop. I get just as good of a result from two 500 mg Tylenol. Does anyone else get these results from prescription pain meds?

Taxol Nail Side Effects
I am just about to finish up taxol treatment, but since the start my finger tips have been swollen and my nail beds have been effected. Currently most of my nails seem to be detaching from the nail bed and leaking fluids all the time (due to swelling?). I was wondering if anyone else has had this side effect (my doc said…

With Covid cranking up and going crazy again we are canceling our family annual July4th cook out.
This will be the first time in 10 years that we don't all get together. We will have 40 to 50 people at our house for this annual party. It's disappointing to not be able to do it, but we feel it's mandatory with my diagnosis this year. Is anyone else canceling their plans?

Do any of you get abandoned by friends and family after you're done with treatments?
I am done, I'm not back to "normal" and never will be. I can't do what I used to be able to do. I don't have the strength or stamina to work like I used to but everyone expects me to go right back to doing things for myself like I always have done. Now I can't, I need help doing a few things every now and then and I get…

Since your diagnosis, do you think it's easier for you to find something appropriate to someone who
We have been on both sides of this subject, we have had people say things to us that were both good and bad, and we have probably all had to say something to a person just diagnosed. Sometimes it's just hard to find the right thing.

What are planning for 4th of July?
We're staying home, and I'm going to grill us a flat iron steak. We live in Georgia, and the COVID-19 cases are surging all over the state. What are your plans?
