Next Sunday June 7th is National CAncer Survivor's Day
A reminder for all of my fellow cancer survivors, next Sunday, June 7th is National Cancer Survivor's Day. It's sort of a big deal for us. It's a day that we can sit back and relax and look at what has tried to kill us and say, not this time. Our blog post today has some details and history about the day of cancer survivor…

Port put in- cough with blood
My father had a port put in yesterday because he begins chemo tomorrow. He coughs frequently, but today when he was coughing, blood is coming up. He put a call to his doctor and nurse said the oxygen from his procedure yesterday could dry things out and therefore blood. Anyone else have this happen? Thanks!

June is Men's Health Month
It's a time for men to pay attention to what's ailing us. A time to try to practice better health habits, get screened and stop standing on the top of the ladder. Some things probably aren't going to change though. Our blog post today has some information about Men's Health Month, take a look here>> https://bit.ly/2Bv7nMr…

Who is participating in clinical trials here? What did it take to get accepted?
I am having mixed results so far with treatments, my doctor won't say anything other than "he is concerned". I want to plan ahead and not wait until they say this isn't working, I want to have a plan in place. I will be bringing this up with him the next session to see what else is next.

What sort of side effects from cancer have you, do you/did you have BEFORE treatment started?
I can feel fatigue starting to sneak in a little bit, the pain in both sides of my neck is progressing, swallowing is becoming more difficult, and now this morning I woke up with a swollen bottom lip. That's a new thing, I haven't hit my face with anything so I have no idea what might be causing that. We talk about side…

Has your doctor's office called you prior to a scheduled appointment to ask if you'd rather do a "te
I asked if there would be a charge and they said yes but not as much as the regular office visit. I'm all for not having to get out and go to the doctor but this just seems like trying to squeeze in as many people as they can without actually seeing them. How are they coming to take blood, check blood pressure, squeeze…

I found a meme on FB that describes to a T where I am in life after this diagnosis, I posted it on t
It says: In the blink of an eye, your life can change due to disease. Your dreams, goals, life change. You no longer have time for drama, you worry less about the big things and are grateful for the little things. You leave the history of yesterday behind and concentrate on how you will use today's energy and have no time…

Are any of you finding as this crisis goes on you are staying up later and later at night ?
I 've heard from several people who are experiencing this trend and heard a psychologists explanation. When you go to bed the hope is you will quickly go to sleep so what is the next thing that happens? You wake up and it's another day. Subconsciously, we do not want to face that coming day because of all the stress and…

Do you find that your mornings are the worst part of your day since you started chemo?
I used to jump out of bed in the mornings, but now when the alarm goes off I just don't want to get up. I'm sore all over, I don't feel good, and it takes me an hour or more to start feeling like something. After that is over I seem to feel OK for the rest of the day. It doesn't matter if it's a treatment day or not this…

Life insurance form
I had chemo completed in December 2013. I was finished with Herceptin July 2014. I was put on Leterzole, used until December 2018. So forms ask when I finished Cancer treatment. Is it at end of Chemo, Herceptin or Letrozole? Really confused on this. Thanks.

Since when?
I went for a six month checkups and a Prolia Shot at the oncologist. They took my temperature before I walked in and they have me a paper saying I was ok. Had a blood test. They weighed me, did blood pressure and then the Nurse practitioner came in. She talked to me, listened to my heart with stethoscope, and then told me…

Covid saved my life. Maybe?
I went to have a covid test and had a fever. They immediately said I probably had it. I was sent to my doctor to have further tests. I had an infection that was giving me a fever. That was followed by a chest Xray which showed something abnormal in my right lung. The end of this episode was a biopsy which was positive. I…

Hot Flash Help
Okay folks. Besides running a fan full blast, turning my air down to the point that the rest of my friends and family feel like they are in a meat locker, or wearing virtually no clothes (not particularly attractive or socially acceptable for work)- what have you found effective? Please know I am not going to consider…

We are lifting quarantine How to you feel ?
As the quarantine is lifted do you feel (A) Like you have been released from prison or (B) Like your fortress is crumbling For me it is B. People have said to me if you want to stay quarantined then just stay quarantined. Well that is possible for some but not for others. My son will have to go out and work. We discussed…

"We're all in this together" seems to be the corona catch phrase adopted by everyone advertising on
I've heard that so much I'm sick of hearing it. They all keep saying it but I haven't seen any of them knocking on our door to deliver groceries or offering free legal advice, or dropping off a new car. I get the feeling that too many people are trying to play on the feelings of fear and anxiety of the public. Have you…

If you're due for a colonoscopy this year, would you do it in light of COVID-19?
Initially a friend nagged me to get a test which was a rude awakening that I had colon cancer. I am past 5 years NED (no evidence of disease) now but am due for a test again. Should I?

Swelling in places where your cancer isn't at. Anyone have this happen?
I have swelling around my neck that has started this past week. It's making it slightly hard to breathe. Not extreme swelling, but enough to notice my neck is fatter than it really is. Doctor's appointment is Friday, they say "probably" nothing to worry with. Anyone have this happen, my cancer is colon cancer, not in my…

Life Planning
I know it's a subject that people don't like to think about. I know some people feel that planning for end of life might hasten the process, or invite trouble. I was always hesitant to plan for eventualities, but after seeing friends and family have to fight legal battles over how to best help their loved ones, I felt it…

Has anyone had excess gas, bloating, belly pains after/during treatments?
I know it wasn't just something I ate. I had treatment last week and almost immediately, I started having an embarrassing case of gas. Belching, farting, the whole gas issue thing. I don't think I've ever had a case like this before. Is this a chemo induced thing?

May trigger. How to know when enough it's enough?
I'm giving keytruda and lenvatinib (sp?) a try. I really can't do chemo anymore because my platelets just aren't recovering at all. There are a lot of other considerations, but how do you know when it's time to quit fighting. It's a question I never had the courage to ask my friends who went through it already. Should…

Do you have the same kinds of side effects with all your rounds of chemo?
I seem to have something different on each one. Sometimes they are opposite from the last time. One time its constipation, the next time its diarrhea. Dizziness one time and air-headed the next.
