Have you considered that your outlook on your entire cancer situation will affect how you view each

Your port: Do you consider it a piece of a foreign object inside of your body, or do you consider it a tool that is a great piece of modern technology that is helping to save you?

Chemo: do you consider it a poison that's trying to kill you, or do you look at it as the wonderful juice that's killing your cancer and setting you free from it?

Do you get what I mean? Nothing is fantastic and wonderful about having cancer, but we can look at it in a couple of different views, each will affect our attitude, our mood, our days, weeks, months, and the rest of our life.

I try to look at the positive side of everything that happens in my cancer experiences.

I agree, I have always tried to look at the brighter side of every situation. Each day has good things and bad things in them, which you focus on will determine how your day goes too.

I agree. Looking at the bright side is where i try to stay too. My doctor credit a positive attitude and my faith with the fact that i am still here.

Personally, I much prefer being positive and happy to being negative about all of life, not just cancer.

I so totally agree - I have always been a "half-full" person, always looking towards the light. My oncologist even asked me how I stayed so positive all of the time. I thought about her question before I answered. The truth is that it's easier to live and face the adversities that life is bound to bring if you keep a positive attitude.

Glass half empty, glass half full. Totally agree with the others. We all have a choice when it comes to our outlooks and how we handle the challenges we face during our lifetimes.

Being positive is huge in this journey. I haven’t gone through hardly anything compared to most of you, and I catch myself being negative. I have to really work at being positive some days. I have a very empathetic personality and sometimes I just have to back off when I start feeling responsible to take on the pain of others.
This group helps me turn my attitude around more often than not.
Someone came into my office today to bring me some scarves because she found out from someone that I had breast cancer. When she walked in, she looked so sad. She seemed almost disappointed that I hadn’t lost my hair or that I didn’t “look sick.” I felt bad for her, but I was very thankful she wanted to be so generous. She asked what she should do with these scarves. I told her I hated to take advantage and if she wanted to return them she could, or if she wanted me to pass them on, I would. On Monday, they are going to my nurse navigator and donated on behalf of my friend.
We agreed it would be nice to have her gift go to someone who could use it.
