What gives you joy right now?
Between cancer and the pandemic, the future can look pretty bleak. What gives you joy during this rough season of unknowns? Mine is knitting and having Face Time with the grandkids. What's yours?

Do you have a hematologist?
A friend who went through cancer treatments before me asked what my hematologist has said. I don't have one and haven't heard anyone of my doctors suggest it. Is this a common thing?

Immune system & COVID-19
Apologies. I don’t know how to delete my previous post. My question is how long is your immune system considered compromised after BC treatment - lumpectomy, chemo and radiation in my case. I am a good 6 years post-diagnosis and treatment. So am I at higher risk for this Coronavirus or is my immune system back to normal?

Do you have a design on your facemask?
Post a picture of yourself wearing your mask on the pinboard., no matter what kind it is.

I was just browsing through my billing at Vanderbilt and found my bill for my surgery on Jan 28.
My bill was 174,000.00 and my wonderful insurance appears to have paid 22K leaving us 152,000.00 to pay. No problem! Excuse me while I run out to the garden and dig up our coffee can. That's where we keep the "big" money.

PAIN TREATMENT
you know if doctors had to experience the side effects that we feel. had all of our bad side effects they would be better in treating us.

Neuropathy in tongue
Has anyone experienced neuropathy in their tongue. I don’t remember this from my first round of chemo, but it seems like I have some now as well as my hands and feet.

Face Masks - Since it appears that they will be a part of our lives, have you found a good source?
There are all sorts of places popping up online that are selling different looking facemasks, I've also seen that a good number of them are scams. Several friends have ordered some with certain graphics on them that are of interest to my friends to never get them. These places advertise on Facebook a lot. You can sometimes…

Characteristics of Cancer Patients/Survivors
Do you know that we all have characteristics and that when you survey thousands of cancer patients they come to the top? Our blog post today highlights 13 Characteristics Worth Developing When Dealing With Cancer. Take a look and see how many of these characteristics you have, and list some that you might have that aren't…

Since the corona virus is ramping up again, have you missed any doctor's appointments?
I am considering canceling anything that is not mandatory, treatment, or follow up, etc. I'm not going just for "check-ups" anymore.

I'm losing weight and started drinking these nutrition shakes, they're not to tasty, are they?
Which variety/brand/etc have you found to be actually good tasting? It's a shame that something that we need can't be actually good to drink. I think I'll try blending one with some ice cream and see if that helps.

Need to Chill
A few months ago I had an echogram which showed some heart issues. Been through several tests and my aortic valve needs to be replaced. I've been told it's possible that radiation caused it. The surgeon should be calling tomorrow to tell me whether I need to have open heart surgery or a less invasive procedure called TAVR…

Being Positive
My last question/post had to do with testing my positivity. As I expressed in that post, it just seemed like the day was testing me a lot. I am over it. I just needed to vent a bit. Sometimes things get the best of us. I am happy that some of you remain positive all the time, or constantly seek the positive. We all do what…

Do any of you get dizzy when they draw several viles of blood?
This is the 3rd time I've nearly passed out.

Testing my Positivity
Over the past couple of days, lots of posts about maintaining a positive frame of mind. I have been trying to do so, but today is testing my patience. When we bought our house in 2004, it was a couple of years old. All of the appliances (builder grade stuff) are reaching the end of their life. In the past week we have had…

Sunday's "deep thought" - It's a boating thing
Suppose you bought a new boat and was going to name it after your cancer situation. What would you call it?

Invasive COVID Tests
I was reading a question (from another site) earlier today that made me just think about the "testing" process. If it is possible for modern science to do a complete DNA mapping on you from a cheek swab, and one of the main methods of transmission seems to be through oral droplets and unintentional "spray," wouldn't it…

As caregiver do you have to get pushy sometimes ?
My husband had a stroke on Thursday. He has been at one of the large medical facilities in Dallas since he was finally admitted. I took him to a smaller (closer) facility first but they didn't have a neurologist or the equipment for the tests he needed (MRI machine, I guess) so he was transported by ambulance to this large…

Have you heard someone say "that's gonna leave a mark", after someone has gotten smacked by somethin
Most of us that have been diagnosed with cancer already have a few marks from it. Either surgery, treatments, or side effects of both leave marks on us. I posted an article about some of the obvious and some not-so-obvious ways that cancer has left marks on me. Here is the link to the article>> https://bit.ly/3iWxUU0 How…

I was reading the question about pain meds not working for someone.
I have a different problem. I keep my pain meds in my medicine cabinet in my bathroom. Just me and my spouse are here. I take them exactly as they are supposed to be taken so I never take too many. I ran short last month, and this month I thought the bottle was looking like there wasn't enough so I counted. I will be 5…

What works best for you for anit-nausea from chemo?
I'm looking for what choices there are, I've asked the nurse giving me treatment but she just said, 'oh there are lots of them', and left the room. Not helpful. I want to compare, try something different.

Neck & Shoulder pain after Mastectomy
I have a great deal of pain (that comes and goes) in my neck and shoulders, especially the right side. I have made adjustments to how I sit at my desk/computer for work and have begun seeing a chiropractor. It is better, sometimes. Anyone else experience similar issues?

when you go in for chemo are you in a room with several other people or by yourself in a small room?
My center has a fairly large room and about 24 chairs can be filled. As the room starts to fill everyone starts to share about their day, their week, their problems or just what they've been up to. It's kind of nice to chat with everyone while the chemo drips. It passes the time. I've heard of some places where you never…

I am breaking down and letting them put a port in. I need your pros and cons please
I have read good things, but I've also read nightmare stories about them coming undone, moving, one person said theirs came out, which I don't even know how that would be possible. I think it will be for the best, but I would like to hear from people that have actually had one, used it, and your results good or bad. Too…

The Cost of Kindness
I have been thinking about this a lot. People say it costs nothing to be kind. If that were true, likely many people would be much kinder. The greatest "cost" of kindness is engaging and connecting with another person. We have morphed into this world where "Grumpy Cat" says "I hate people." It's become the norm to gripe…

Really was jealous of Greg
Got off the phone with my surgeon a bit ago. Blobby the mass is a recurrence of the endometrial cancer. Da mn it! Still processing. I'm off to make follow ups with my surgeons and call my chemo guy. You've heard of Love in the Time of Cholera? Now we have Cancer in the Time of Pandemic.
