Is it just me, or are you tired of hearing this phrase "together, we will get through this" ?
I appreciate the positive attitude on the subject, but this is being beat into the ground. And what's the "together" part? Nobody has stopped by our house and offered to help us get through it. We are more like on our own instead of together with anyone. Every business that advertises on TV has been using this too. I guess…

Drug to prevent mouth sores during chemo
Does anyone know about a drug to prevent mouth sores during chemo. The only one I can find is Palifermin (Kepivance), but I'm not sure if it is for a specific type of cancer.

Being Open to Suggestions
We all know that once people know we have cancer, there is no end to the advice we get whether welcome or unwelcome, whether we pay a professional or ask a website, whether it comes from Aunt Judy's friend who grows daisies in organic soil or our super skeptical neighbor who eats 15 chili dogs a day. It's hard when we ask…

What a fighter she was. It seemed like no disease was stronger than she was. She set an example for many, that's for sure.

Pain medication causing itching all over?
it's been so many years since I had pain medication regularly maybe I just don't remember, but I am having spells of itching. My head, arms, legs, everywhere basically. Normal?

Good news and bad news
Let's start with the good news first. My skin is very sensitive to the adhesive of the clear drape that creates the vacuum and seals the dressing to the wound. The wound specialist wants to give my skin a break, so I have just a dressing, no wound vac. I'm unleashed! Now the not so good news. I discovered yesterday morning…

Stomach tube leaking.
While going through this stomach tube ordeal in the ER over the last day, they told me at the ER that it's normal for them to leak. The one that was in to start with leaked just a little but nothing like the one that came out or its replacement. I can push a little water, or fluid of any kind and it will leak considerably.…

Accuracy of results
For me, multiple CEA tests were done. Multiple colonoscopies were done. I have heard colon cancer can spread primarily to the lungs or liver. Does a CEA detect any recurrence in a part other than the colon?

Chemo-induced peripheral neuropathy
Any suggestions and/or successes? I am 8+ years out from ending my chemo, which left me with (CIPN) neuropathy. I have taken alpha-lipoic acid, B vitamins, folic acid and even tried several months of acupuncture. All to no avail in even minimizing, its gradually increasing effects. Today it feels as if the bottom of feet…

Is Yervoy working?
Received 4 rounds of Yervoy/Opdivo combo infusion. 2nd PET scan shows 80% of tumors increase in size and density. Does not seem like this is working. I have ~12 tumors running up my right leg. Nothing above the waist (not in organs, lungs, etc...) Has anyone else experienced this ad what were the next steps?

Timely response for steroids to kick in and start to do their job?
it's been years ago since I had shemo with a dose of steroids to help. Its only been 2 days so far but I think I can feel a difference in before and after for me. What has been the time of response to yours?

Since I have to take everything by feeding tube now, it's a huge draw on time for me.
I have to crush up all my meds to push them in my feeding tub. Then to eat, some things have to be warmed as it's very uncomfortable to push really cold foods into the tube. And, depending on how fancy I want to get with my recipe at any one given setting, it could take an hour to mix it up, put it in the Nutribullet and…

To port or not to port, that is the question
Ok, I've had a recurrence, and I'll either be doing the same Taxol/Carboplatin I did last time or a clinical trial with those 2 drugs with immunotherapy added. First time around, I did IV in the arm, not a port. Wasn't offered a port. Didn't know about ports then. Did have a Taxol leak back then resulting in a nasty…

Best OTC treatment for skin surface lumpectomy scarring (not involving lymphedema)
My lumpectomy back in 2014 went fine, without much surface scarring (the scars were cleverly hidden in a fold of my breast on the side). My lymphedema is another story. However, a good friend had her lumpectomy this past April, and has significant scarring, and is asking for advice on any OTC and natural remedies to reduce…

Ok, I'm back
It's easier for me to mess with y'all from my work computer, and today is my first day back to work. Since I'm working from home, insurance still considers me homebound, so I won't have any problems continuing with my home healthcare nurse. I still have a wound vac and need dressing changes 3 days a week (waiting for her…

Rib bone removal
Hi, Has anyone had a partial rib bone (s) removal to relieve pain that has metastasized to ribs from original colon? Is it painful? Leave a huge scare, cane you get back to a normal life? Ie golf? My scan results are mixed from last week. MIxed as in they scanned three areas, chest/neck, abdomen,
So the main area of tumor activity has been in the neck on my left side, on the right side which no mention has been made of. The two research doctors keep describing the tumors in my neck as "cystic". Cystic means that the tumor has broken apart into smaller pieces and now each time I have a treatment, he has to find a…

Our blog post today has information about chemo by mouth or oral chemo. A lot of people don't think you can have chemo unless it's laid out on the bed, stretcher or exam room table/bed.

As you're mama probably told you too, don't talk about religion or politics in public. Obviously, this has been thrown out the window. Anyway... My issue is on the religious side. I haven't had anyone come right out and say it, but I've had more than one person from our church insinuate that me having cancer was my fault,…

Cancer Awareness-Does it matter? Does it help?
I've been noticing the actor that recently died from colon cancer Chadwick Boseman, who became famous all of a sudden from his roles in Black Panther and several others. I really had no idea who he was, but he was actually quite famous if you follow films. My point here is, he was one who kept his cancer a secret. I didn't…
