CT results

I promised I'd add in my CT results. Had a virtual appt with my oncologist this morning. Looks good. There are a couple of areas we'll keep an eye one -- diaphragm and right adrenal gland -- but we've been keeping an eye on those since 2012. I forget what exactly is up with the diaphragm. I've known about the cyst on top of my adrenal since my first CT in 2012.

So I'll be starting on Megace as soon as I can pick it up from the pharmacy. Doesn't sound like anyone here has been on it, as I didn't get a response back on my question about it. Very few side effects -- menopause type stuff. No drug interactions. Then a repeat scan in 3 months to see if anything changed.

So overall, a pretty good Friday. May you all get some good news in your lives today, too.

That sounds like encouraging news. Something that has been there since 2012 probably isn't going to change.

You are always encouraging to others. I had my scans yesterday, but have an in-person appt. next Thursday to get my results and talk about "what's next." I am now 5 years after treatment for my Stage IV rectal cancer.

@JaneA, do you already know the results of your scans? I read your post as if you know things are going to change. I hope I am misreading your post.

I read on another list that anyone who has MyChart will be getting their test results immediately from now on. I haven't confirmed that, but I hope it is true. I hate waiting for results and much prefer to know before I see my doctor so I can be mentally prepared, especially if the results are not good.

Yeah, but the results can scare you without interpretation. I have MyChart. My CT was Tuesday. It was out on the site Wednesday. I freaked out about some things. But it was because I was reading stuff into it. Had my appointment today (Friday). I'm pretty good at reading CT/MRI reports...for orthopedics from when I did workers comp. Not as good when it comes to internal organs. Give me an ACL or a rotator cuff tear, and I understand those! Oh well....

BuckeyeShelby - Such an encouraging report. I hope that Megace holds true on their fewer, milder side effects. Do let us know more about the Megace and how you feel on it.

To All - It is official now that MyChart by Epic will be releasing results directly to patient. Up until now they have the doctors release them once they've looked them over. Now the doctors will be contacting us about the results after they've been released. If you have a question about them when you get them, we've been instructed to send a message via MyChart to our doctor. Although I'm the type that likes to get my results right away, I feel that this change is really going to be harder for the doctors trying to manage their time.

Always love hearing positive reports from you guys! My next scan is Dec. 2. Hopefully I’ll be adding more positive news to our site then too. Finally got my senior flu shot, now just have to avoid Covid! Hope all of you stay well and have a great winter! Can’t wait for Spring already!

LiveWithCancer, NO - I don't know my CT scan results. They don't post them, only lab results. My tumor marker test is low and unchanged. But these scans are most likely, my last full body scans as I am five years since my last treatment. My oncologist told me that we'll talk about what we're going to go for the future. NCCN guidelines only say five years out for colorectal cancer. After that, we're in uncharted territory. She has reassured me that we'll continue quarterly tumor marker tests but might drop the pelvic part of scans since I've had two normal colonoscopies and my entire rectum has been removed along with my sigmoid colon. But she thought that she might keep scanning my lungs for a bit. I had SBRT radiation for a lung met. At the time, SBRT was relatively new treatment for lung mets and they don't know about late effect side effects. Hopefully, I'll hear that I am still NED. Thanks for being concerned.

Buckeye Shelby, congratulations on the good news! It seems that you were overdue for some good news this year. I'm really glad that you've gotten some.

Thanks for letting us know your good news. I hope that the treatment will do it's trick with little side effects. Keep us posted on how things are going. How is your wound healing? Take care.

Thanks everyone!. Beachbum, every time I do a dressing change, 2 to 3 times a week, I can see that it looks smaller. Started out 17 cm up and down and 8 cm side to side. It is now 8 x 4. But more importantly it was 5 cm deep. Now it's just an indentation. The nurse doesn't measure depth anymore. And I've survived my 1st 2 doses of Megace. So far so good. Hope all of you have a fantabulous week. I gotta go mail my absentee ballot now. TTFN!

I have mixed feelings about getting results before the doctor sees them. It would be nice to get the results quicker but I don't understand a lot of medical terminology so I might read something and interpret it incorrectly. I guess it would be a lesson in not jumping to conclusions - good or bad - before talking to the doc.

@JaneA, i am glad i was misreading!!!! Will be praying for continued good results!!!

For me, it is a little scary not to have scans as often, even though it is way better for us to get less radiation.

As far as getting results right away, i know my doctor is not going to like that one bit. I understand his perspective. But, i will be glad to get the results quickly and before i see him.

Shelby, I am so glad to see some good news. Glad your wound is healing well too. I don't even know what "MyChart" is- I assume it your chart. LOL I know my doctors would not be loving it if this was a thing here. Maybe it is, but I just don't know it.

Hello, my name is Jennifer. I am an Overthinker and Worrier. JUST the kind of person who doesn't need to see her results BEFORE the doctor sees them (or before I have a chance to see the doctor). I mean, I am definitely curious and want to see my results but I get crazy hyped up and start asking questions down to minute details that are not even things I probably need to know about. I think my oncologist may be thrilled that COVID kept me out of his office. He's very nice. Don't get me wrong, but I ask a LOT of questions and I feel sure some of them probably aren't terribly relevant.

Anyhow, best wishes to everyone with pending test results and near dated appointments with your doctors. My next mammogram is scheduled for November 3rd. Yes, election day. They are both necessary evils and both must be done. I don't know which one scares me more right now. Don't want to make this political. I just don't like anything going on this year and having my scary test on the same day as scary voting... well. LOL

I think I am going to early vote so I don't have to do both of them on the 3rd.
