Now that I think about it, as we are immunocompromised it's probably a good idea for all of us. Are you wearing one?

Looks like immunotherapy might be in my future. Who has had Opdivo or Keytruda?
Opdivo is used a lot for H & N as well as lung. I now @LiveWithCancer was or is still on it. Anyone else? Side effects? It's been a long time since I took any type of treatment. (chemo wise)

Procedure or Surgery | stent to ureter
Pat had a lower left abd tumor start to grow in Jan 2020. Well, it actually was growing before that for 2 months, but Jan is when we had to quit the clinical trial due to this growth. Eventually (March) it partially obstruct her left ureter, causing UTI-like complaints. It was decided by oncologist and urologist that a…

Drug or Chemo Therapy | Hormone therapy
My wife Pat started on Megace and tamoxifen after having to quit a clinical trial. (see previous experience). The regimen is complicated, esp when added to other med schedules: she takes tamoxifen for 3 weeks, then Megace for three weeks, and again until we can get into a trial. Her doctor has a trial, but it is not open…

Since you were diagnosed, do you find yourself looking at other people envious?
I will see people, anywhere, doing anything, and sometimes my mind snaps to thinking that I will never be able to do that. Or, why do they get to have a long and happy life and I won't. I'm not terminal that I know of, haven't been told that I am, but still, that's where my mind goes.

Life just keeps throwing curve balls at us, and the occasional knuckle ball
We have to deal with cancer, then the stupid virus, and now last night a line of storms came through our area taking down trees all along the way. Our lights were out from 4 yesterday afternoon until 130 this morning. We were fortunate to not have any storm damage though. All around us people had damage. Trees down…

Has anyone had genetic testing done on their tumors to see if they were a fit for immunotherapy?
I have been told that we might do immunotherapy, and testing would be done. No further instructions or descriptions were given at the time. It was just a possible lane at the time but now it might be where we go. I'm just curious about what's involved, how they test, etc. Is it a biopsy on the tumor again?

So we had 4 members of the family over today to check on me and drop off some supplies
Since I've been sick we haven't been out of the house much so our family has been very helpful. One of them looked at me and says, so.....when this is all over, what's going to happen to all of your tools? (I have an extensive workshop) I'm still trying to decide what to respond with. I just stared at him in disgust and…

Since your diagnosis, do you find that you have a new affinity for others with health problems now?
I never used to give it a second thought when I would see someone on oxygen, in a wheelchair, using a walker, or some other obvious health issue. Now I find I look and instantly think if there's any way I can help them right now. Get in their car, get something off the grocery shelf for them, etc. Just me or is this…

Today is Melanoma Monday and May is Melanoma Awareness Month
Spring is here, and all of us are ready for warmer weather and sunshine. But wait just a minute. While we need sunshine for Vitamin D production, too much sun is linked to melanoma and other skin cancers. Moderation and liberal use of sunscreen help protect us from skin damage by the sun.n Today's blog post has information…

Ya know, it's sad...
I'm working from home. I've been chit-chatting via email w/someone on my team. She mentioned that her nephew at just passed away. After expressing appropriate condolences, that first thing I said was that I hoped it wasn't the stupid virus. My ghod, has society changed! Oh, and he had been fighting cancer for awhile -- not…

Quarantine ended
What will you do when the quarantine is ended? Personally, I'm staying inside for another 6 months after. I'll be 74 next month, had cancer, had a heart attack (chemo induced), have asthma. Boy howdy! I fit the profile for 24% of the deaths (the other 86% are male).

I have lost my job due to my inability to keep up. Now I will be attempting to file for disability.
I know I read on here a while back someone posted about going through this. Can anyone here tell me factual information about if we can get it, and what is required? Are there any people here that are in the legal field in their day job? I was going to go to the SS office and just start the process, I called and they told…

How do you feel about the statement that "Oh, you are so strong, I couldn't do it"?
I appreciate their sentiment, but seriously, what else are we supposed to do? I guess we could take the information from the doctor and decide nope, I'm done, see you. But realistically the human spirit and instinct is to fight to survive. So, I do what I have to, strong? I don't know. I guess it takes strength, some of us…

Low Hemoglobin
Hi, Anyone had any experience with taking iron supplements and/or getting iron infusions? I was tested and it came out a little low so a choice was offered to me. Reading about it mentioned that PPI or antacids can prevent your system from absorbing iron and I've been on Omezaprole about a year for acid reflux. another…

Celebration | Mastectomy Incision Healed Well- No More Appointments for Awhile
My incision and drain port healed well. Surgeon was pleased with everything. I cried a bunch of happy tears- catharsis. I got a "knitted knocker" today to put in my bra to help balance me a little. I am so grateful for my caring and compassionate doctor and her assistant.
