Here is a story about another cancer patient having her surgery canceled because of the Covid19
It's going to take months before we can get re-scheduled to have procedures done. This is going to be a mess and people are going to die waiting. 70-year-old thyroid cancer patient and retired nurse, Carol Ann Horn, had her surgery postponed due to state order to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Do you reveal your cancer diagnosis during the application process for a loan?
I am refinancing our home and my bank doesn't know about my diagnosis. I am afraid to reveal anything about it for fear that they will consider it a liability for me and not approve my loan. Have any of you been through the loan process while having cancer? Are there any laws that protect us?

Do youy ever have people look at you and just say HUH? when you tell them what type of cancer?
I have osteosarcoma. It's a rare bone cancer and when I tell people (when they ask) what I have I usually get a blank stair. People just aren't familiar with it. Because of this I usually try to stay away from even talking about it. Anybody have that problem?

Anyone had regular flu, or some type of infection that affected you so bad you had to stop treatment
I know the chemo will knock my immune system down and we are more apt to get various problems. I'm worried I might get something that causes me to stop treatment. Does this ever happen?

I was supposed to have surgery on April 1st, that was canceled. I am also supposed to have a checkup
I am more anxious about that than the surgery to install this TEP device. I want to be looked at to make sure everything is healing like it should and nothing is seeking up on me. No appointments are being scheduled now, and with all of the surgery, office visits, procedures, etc that are being canceled I can imagine that…

I feel stiff joints when I get up from a chair. After I have been sitting for a while it hurts pretty bad to get up and walk. Is this normal?

Other Care | Home care
I had a home health nurse (actually several different ones because the COVID-19 crisis started to ramp up just as I had completed surgery). They came to take vitals and help me with checking the incision site and surgical drain. I could have done okay without them, but it was more a backup for me. Years ago I got…

Coronavirus creeping closer. Do you feel it's closing in?
It seems we've been a little off subject lately with all the talk of the virus, toilet paper, etc..., But then I realized this is of real concern to many of us. Many of us are in the "at risk" groups of compromised immunity, elderly, with additional health concerns. This morning I heard there was a confirmed case 2…

Specifically the fatigue. I have been done with chemo for a year or so now and it still feels like I don't have any energy.

Does anyone have experience with Velcade?
Side effects, efficacy, overall success with it? Failure? Doctor is suggesting it so I'm wondering how it has been for others.

Staying positive and keeping your mind off of the negativity. How do you do it?
I read a lot of articles online about staying positive to help you get through the journey, but how do you do it? I am stuck thinking about the negative of what if I don't make it, what about this virus, will it make things worse? I feel like I'm slipping into depression but I'm not sure. I have never been to any kind of…

What is the first thing you will do when the quarantine is over?
We are sitting around watching TV and have watering mouths over all of the food commercials, looking at all of the pictures of vacation spots thinking about how nice it will be to go there. We are making a list, what will you do?

Are you having trouble getting in to see your doctor?
Mine said they are cutting back hours and limiting visits, whatever that means.

Have you been told that your surgery will be on hold until further notice?
This is a post by someone on one of my FB groups, this is sad. "I’m beyond devastated, I have stage four mucoepidermoid carcinoma. I was booked for surgery to remove a tumor to my parotid gland with a seeded part that is growing very fast on my neck. But due to the Coronavirus, my surgery was canceled and at its current…

Have you experienced the looks you get being a cancer patient, wearing a mask in public, and sneezin
I try to not even go out, but if I absolutely have to stop somewhere I put on a mask and dart in and out. Yesterday I cleared out an entire aisle in the grocery store when I sneezed. I look like warmed over death already and wearing a mask and sneezing during all of this freaks people out!

Have you isolated yourself at home due to our immune system being weak
I see that some people are still out running around like there is nothing going on right now. I am a little freaked out about someone coming around me that might be a carrier. The scary thing is most people that are carriers don't know that they are.

Have you seen any advertised "cancer cures" online, in magazines, on TV, or anywhere?
It's sad that some people make a living off of vulnerable people like cancer patients. Some are even former cancer patients themselves that have decided that they will get in on the cash cow and offer their own "How I did it" books, seminars, and videos on how they supposedly beat cancer without traditional treatments. Our…
