think the delivery is germ free. . Anyway, after spending almost 2 weeks trying to find salt-and Levi- the master scavenger did finally find salt- I've been ordering online--things like tapioca, 50# all purpose flour, dry milk,

I was having the same problem. I didn't buy 50# of flour, but I found a site and ordered buttermilk powder, sweet cream powder, dried milk powder and chicken stock powder. I refuse to compromise myself and my husband by going on a quick grocery run. This is for when I want to cook and don't have fresh milk or half-n-half. That buttermilk powder makes great biscuits.
If you have a Kroger near you, they are now offering "pick-up" service. You place your order and chose from a delivery date - running about a week out at the moment. They give you a one-hour window to pick up on a specific date. You go to a special parking area, call the number posted there, and they bring it out to you - you can even get frozen veggies and milk. Minimum contact. I'm picking up my first order on Tuesday.
Nothing is germ-free, but we still have to eat. So looks like pick-up with Kroger is as safe as I'll be able to get. I'm with you - this is serious. We don't have any family nearby so we hunkered down for the duration.0 -
We order online all the time, and the more we do it the more we like it. It's just too convenient to sit here on the couch and push a few buttons and order. Germ free though is another thing. We spray the packages before touching them, then take whatever is in the package out, spray that package that is holding the item. Then we burn the boxes. Some things stay outside on the porch before we bring them inside. I don't think you can be too careful right now.0

My weak point is my son--he's a 150% disabled vet- the VA tops it at 100% so it doesn't go broke. He can't understand that small packages shouldn't be on the table and shouldn't be handled. The big boxes, if I find them- I put on gloves and bring them in-let them set for about a week before I open them.
Last night, I got so irritated with my son. He started coughing, and he walked into the kitchen -coughing all over the food-and my plate that I was eating from. I finished my super-duper penicillin on Tuesday. Thanks to my son, I'm fighting a cough, sore throat, and runny crappy nose again. I lost my hearing on my left side. Drs. Kwan and hazini think that I had some form of COVID-19, and I managed to fight it off (especially with their help). They wanted me to get tested/hospitalized. It takes hours of sitting in a car in a line blocks long-I told them NO--if I have breathing problems-that would be different-- I told them I didn't want to be around other people. meanwhile I'm trying to get my son to wash his hands.0 -
I have been using Safeway/Albertson delivery for two years. But went we shut down the delivery service crashed. It was up and running last Wednesday however the choices were limited and I don't know how much of the order I will get. I had started washing down the orders that I received in mid February. Oh I am also leaving the packages that I get in the mail on my balcony for 24 hours.

@meyati, It became a sort of a game ... a challenge ... to see if I could finally get what I needed. The problem was that I was wracking up big bills every time I tried. My freezer, refrigerator, and pantry are PACKED so I've found a lot, but it seems I'm always missing something crucial - most often, that something is eggs ... or cheese.
On Tuesday, I placed one-more-order to pick up at Walmart (to be picked up early Thursday morning). I got an email saying that none of the cheese I had ordered and no eggs would be in my order. I finally got irritated enough to tell my husband that I was going to go to Aldi during senior hour and take my chances at getting sick...
Senior hour at Aldi was awesome. I saw them disinfect every single cart. We seniors take the virus more seriously, I think, than younger people so we managed to stay safe distances apart almost all of the time. The majority of folks had on masks (I didn't, but was glad they did - that way I wouldn't get their germs, nor they mine). Even going into the store ... they were completely out of flour, canned tomatoes, paper towels. I heard they had toilet paper, but I forgot to even look - we went into this pandemic with an abundance of toilet paper.
I've found some really good recipes since I have had to cook every meal. That's a bonus of this stay-at-home order.
Will probably be going back to Aldi again on Tuesday for another in-person senior shopping day.0 -
I had to order toilet paper from Amazon as all stores around here are out of it.
It was about $20 for 10 rolls & will not be delivered till June. It is from China!
We have about 3 weeks worth on hand.
Who knew that T.P. was more valuable than gold.

Dog bones or biscuits? Every store and Chewy are out, and don't know when they'll be restocked. I found some recipes for doggy bones for my doggies.I didn't realize that about dog bones and biscuits until almost noon. It put me in a snit and I didn't brush my hair and fix it til almost 2.0

I tried the pick up & never could get any toilet paper. Also I live in a rural area so no one delivers. It's gotten to where there aren't any pick up times. I have a co-worker who moonlights at Walmart so I can get the scoop from her. If you want to get anything, be there before 7 AM, 6 AM Teusday mornings at least here. And head straight to the back where the toilet paper is. And throw social distancing out the window. It's all about grabbing first. Even then you will find everything is picked over. Anyway I am stocked up for now. My bottom freezer is so full I can hardly close it. But I am trying to stay out of the stores or anywhere public period for an extended time.0

A curse on the toilet paper hoarders. Or all the other hoarders,---- try to be a kind person & share with those who need.
Some people have intestinal problems and are desperate for T.P.
Do not flush kleenex or wipes, they clog up septic tanks & sewers. This is gross, but put used wipes in a plastic bag by the toilet & then throw out in trash.0 -
I was skeptical about the order online program for groceries at Walmart. But now I'm a believer. Order online, drive to store and they bring it out to the car. Great service!0
