Tonight You Won't Be Able To Speak-What Will You Say Today?
This is something I was thinking about up to my surgery. Even the last minute before they rolled me to the operating room we were in the little cubicle holding area. The last thing I said with my old voice was I love you to my Sweetie. After the surgery and I woke up, I tried to talk just out of habit/reaction, nothing…

Sweetie and I are headed back to Vandy today for my 1 week follow up, actually it's been 10 days
I am hoping for a good report, I'm anxious about my pathology report, but ready to keep moving forward in any case. As they say on those TV cop shows, "cover us, we're going in"!

Oscars tonight!
How do you feel about the Oscars? Do you watch? Have you seen any of the movies? Or do you not bother? Seven years ago, I had landed in the hospital and was watching the Oscars between nurse and doctor visits. Didn't get much out of it that night. But it's in my memory of my cancer journey. We have seen 7 of the 9 movies…

PEG Feeding Tube Removal
I have had a feeding tube for a few months. I am supposed to get it out now that I am able to eat by mouth. I have never asked the doctor what type of procedure is it to get it out. I'm assuming I'd have to be back in the OR and be put to sleep. I can't imagine them doing that in the doctors' office. Has anyone had one…

Insensitivity
I set up an appointment with my Primary Doctor. My husband told me that the dry spots on my back had turned black. I had him take photos of the spots. Indeed they needed to be investigated. The nurse took my weight, BP, and pulse. She told me the Doctor will be right with me. Never did she ask me to gown up. Then the…

Eye problems with tamoxifen
Has anyone suffered serious eye problems on tamoxifen? I have had a stroke in my eye and 6 months later I had a retinal vein occlusion in the same eye (a blood clot). I don’t know if it’s related or not to tamoxifen. I am aware it can cause blood clots. I have been on a blood thinner for Afib. It makes me so nervous. I’ve…

After dealing with cancer for this long I have a hard time relaxing and de-stressing
When I go home and my dog jumps up in my lap all of that seems to melt away. I'm starting to think that there is something to this "therapy dog" thing. Does anyone else find this is true for them? I used to think it was all a crock and just a way for people to get their animals on the plane.

Somebody asked me when is my anniversary and I really don't know.
Do we use the day of diagnosis, end of treatment, or after a year out? Never really thought about it.

A question that was emailed to us from the WhatNext Digest, have any of you been told this?
I wanted to ask a question...i have been on levothyroxine 88 since my left thyroid lobe was removed for cancer a few years ago. Now I am told there is a new school and an old school and the new school is not to take the levothyroxine. So the doctor has advised me to stop taking it and I'm into about three weeks of not…

What do you do the night before big time surgery? Apparently you don't sleep much.
Up until midnight or so, awake at 3 AM. No problem, I'll get plenty of sleep today, probably pretty deep sleep. It's that waking up thing that is gonna hurt. However it goes and however much it hurts I'm ready to get this thing out of me and get on the other side heading towards recovery. Thanks for your concerns,…

We have had several people ask about time under anesthesia, concerned about how long you can safely
Each operation is different, but I take it that the jest of the question is has anyone had any adverse effects directly related to being under general anesthesia for hours and hours? Anyone? Thanks for your input and we will pass along the feedback.

Who would you say you have gotten the most support from?
A family member or friend? I've had a few friends that have far outdone my family. It's kind of sad really.

How do you come to grips with the fact that everything you have worked for all of your life could be
We retired, paid off everything, moved to a new state, new house, new dreams, and were getting ready to really enjoy the sunset of our lives. Now this damn diagnosis comes and is going to ruin our lives. I'm so pissed at the world right now. How do you deal?

How do you get humility and gratitude? This worked for me
Sweetie threw me a surprise dinner party last night with a small group of 60 or 70 family and friends as a "last supper" before heading off to Vandy tomorrow. Read my thoughts about it here>> http://bit.ly/2U4nc41

Does the chemo do this or is it just from normal winter weather? What do you use for the cracks in skin around the mouth?

I am a year or so out of treatment and I still can't get back to normal sleep.
I used to only sleep 6 or 7 hours a day, but now I seem to need 10 or 11 hours to feel like I've gotten enough. Does Anyone else seem like you're still dragging?
