Eye problems with tamoxifen

Has anyone suffered serious eye problems on tamoxifen? I have had a stroke in my eye and 6 months later I had a retinal vein occlusion in the same eye (a blood clot). I don’t know if it’s related or not to tamoxifen. I am aware it can cause blood clots. I have been on a blood thinner for Afib. It makes me so nervous. I’ve been on the med for over 5 years.

I have had eye problems in the past; two retinal surgeries and a serious eye inflammation brought on by chemo. When I learned one of the side effects of tamoxifen was "eye problems", as well as, blood clots etc.... I refused it. These drugs are supposed to help us but I sometimes wonder if the side effects are worth it. If I was you I would be talking to oncologist about this for sure.

I'm no help with that issue, but I wish you the best with it. There are a few people here that have posted about eye issues associated with chemo. Someone will maybe have some answers for you when they see this.

I can't say that I know if Tamoxifen causes eye problems since I was blind when I was diagnosed with BC 7 years ago. I do know that blood clots are a side effect that is entirely possible for me since my dad has had blood clots over the last few years. This is why I am on fish oil and baby aspirin. If chemo or Tamoxifen is causing you eye problems, please tell your doctor as soon as possible. As for medications and side effects, I do often wonder if these drugs are worth it, trade in one condition for a dozen more while making big pharma rich in the process. OK, before I get on my soap box, I will sign off. I hope you and your doctor can find a way to reverse any vision loss. HUGS and God bless.

Radiation, aramidex and cataracts messed my eyes up,etc.
Cataracts surgery didn't last very long.It was fantastic for a couple of years to see without reading glasses. What a waste of money.

I had a stage 3 diagnosis chemo, radiation double mastectomy. During my first day of therapy for frozen shoulder I tore my right retina and after 3 surgeries to repair I was left blind in that eye. The eye doc said that arimidex is known to weaken the retina along with radiation. A few months later I tore the left retina. I am now legally blind. The diagnosis of Mets to the bone and lung were not as sad as being dependent on others because I am blind. Had I known the side effects, my choices would have been much different.
