Who has had a laryngectomee here on the site? I know of a couple but I don't know who is still hangi

    I had a total Laryngectomy in June 2007, talk using a TEP. Ask away.

    How long was it before you started eating by mouth again? Did your taste come back? Thanks for your info.

    Was eating by mouth within 7 days, taste was fine until I had radiation and then it all went South. Eventually I regained taste and can comfortably cook a meal for company.

    Good to know Fridges, I am 10 days out from surgery today, just had a check-up today and all it good! She says I'm healing better than they could have hoped for. I can start sipping some liquids next tuesday, then 4 days later start eating some soft things, 4 days after that if I'm able to swallow and doing well anything is game.

    I hope that I'm on the downhill side of this.

    Stay positive and all will be good. I do recall that Ensure and Boost were my buddies back then.

    Amazing!!! You never cease to amaze us. God is good. You talked awhile back about you Last meal. Have you started thinking about your First meal? And, Fridges, you are what this group is all about. You did what none of us could do because we had not been where Greg is. Thank you for giving him honest hope and giving him something to look forward to, even through this hard journey.

    Thanks Fridges, I am on a feeding tube now pushing nothing but formula and water.
