What have your short term and long term side effects of radiation been?
I am feeling some of both. And some of the side effects I'm feeling I don't know if they will be long term or not. I appreciate your input.

For the survivors that are out of treatments for a while
During treatment, I didn't worry about the outcome. I didn't think at all about a horrible ending to this. I just focused on one day at a time. Now that I'm out of treatment for a while I am finding that I worry about a recurrence and the possible negative outcome. I think about death and the funeral, I think about how my…

Can someone explain to me what the noise is about this diet? And what would be the benefits or negatives be for someone on treatments or past treatments?

I posted another blog post describing my day of surgery and recovery after this latest diagnosis
Today is two weeks and one day out from that day. It's amazing how fast the human body will recover. I never dreamed I would have come this far so fast. Compared to my previous most serious operation 11 years ago, this one was supposed to be much more serious, much harder to recover from with some serious possible…

Do you keep your cancer to yourself or do you wear it on your sleeve?
I am happy to talk to anyone that wants to talk to me about it, but I don't spread it freely. I just feel funny talking about it still. Does it bother you to talk about it?

I'm not sure quite how to take a statement from an acquaintance.
A friend, distant, but still a friend saw me in a local store the other day and was asking me about my diagnosis. After my giving her a rundown about what has happened and what treatments I have had, surgery, etc. and my current status, she then says, "well, you know you brought this on yourself don't you"? I almost fell…

So, trying to catch up a little. Someone emailed wanting to know if there was an issue with drinking coffee during treatments. I know what I did, what did you do?

How long does it take for your hair to finally grow back once you're done with treatments?
Are there any people here that their hair didn't grow back at all, or grew in so thin it wasn't adequate?

Have you ever posted a negative experience with a doctor on Yelp, or your own Facebook page, or that
I have had a few poor experiences and I don't mind posting the good, bad, and ugly on my own FB page, but that doesn't carry much weight. I was going to post a negative post on Yelp, then I thought no. But how is a doctor any different than the corner butcher shop? If they dropped a steak on the floor and then picked it up…

Tonight You Won't Be Able To Speak-What Will You Say Today?
This is something I was thinking about up to my surgery. Even the last minute before they rolled me to the operating room we were in the little cubicle holding area. The last thing I said with my old voice was I love you to my Sweetie. After the surgery and I woke up, I tried to talk just out of habit/reaction, nothing…

Sweetie and I are headed back to Vandy today for my 1 week follow up, actually it's been 10 days
I am hoping for a good report, I'm anxious about my pathology report, but ready to keep moving forward in any case. As they say on those TV cop shows, "cover us, we're going in"!

Oscars tonight!
How do you feel about the Oscars? Do you watch? Have you seen any of the movies? Or do you not bother? Seven years ago, I had landed in the hospital and was watching the Oscars between nurse and doctor visits. Didn't get much out of it that night. But it's in my memory of my cancer journey. We have seen 7 of the 9 movies…

PEG Feeding Tube Removal
I have had a feeding tube for a few months. I am supposed to get it out now that I am able to eat by mouth. I have never asked the doctor what type of procedure is it to get it out. I'm assuming I'd have to be back in the OR and be put to sleep. I can't imagine them doing that in the doctors' office. Has anyone had one…

Insensitivity
I set up an appointment with my Primary Doctor. My husband told me that the dry spots on my back had turned black. I had him take photos of the spots. Indeed they needed to be investigated. The nurse took my weight, BP, and pulse. She told me the Doctor will be right with me. Never did she ask me to gown up. Then the…

Eye problems with tamoxifen
Has anyone suffered serious eye problems on tamoxifen? I have had a stroke in my eye and 6 months later I had a retinal vein occlusion in the same eye (a blood clot). I don’t know if it’s related or not to tamoxifen. I am aware it can cause blood clots. I have been on a blood thinner for Afib. It makes me so nervous. I’ve…
