After dealing with cancer for this long I have a hard time relaxing and de-stressing
When I go home and my dog jumps up in my lap all of that seems to melt away. I'm starting to think that there is something to this "therapy dog" thing. Does anyone else find this is true for them? I used to think it was all a crock and just a way for people to get their animals on the plane.

Somebody asked me when is my anniversary and I really don't know.
Do we use the day of diagnosis, end of treatment, or after a year out? Never really thought about it.

A question that was emailed to us from the WhatNext Digest, have any of you been told this?

Decision Point | Second Opinion Time?
Based on how fast this trajectory is changing, should I get second opinion? I feel so stressed with everything else- the prospect of having to gather records and find a new doctor to give second opinion is just another stressor. But I have somewhat lost confidence. Just don't understand how things went so bad so fast.

Decision Point | If anything shows up in right breast, proceed immediately to double mastectomy?
Surgeon said no signs this was invasive in initial mammogram. I asked are we going to look at right breast. She says will look with the PET/MRI tests- much more thorough and in depth.

Loss | My mind/Sense of Humor
My surgeon's assistant has constantly complimented me about always having a smile on my face. Well, it was successfully knocked off and eliminated with the news about "way worse" and anticipated mastectomy. Don't know when my smile will come back, if ever.

Oh No | Cancer has spread/Metastasized
Got radiology/pathology results back on Monday 1/27/2020. Doctor very discouraging/discouraged- seems absolutely stunned that invasive is now in picture. Told me again about larger margins- much larger- but no longer contained In Situ. It has become more invasive. Will schedule me for PET Scan/MRI. I am current waiting for…

Procedure or Surgery | Lumpectomy
Surgery 1/22/2020. Knew lumpectomy for removal of calcifications- know there are two areas so know margins will be larger than initially planned. Apparently quite a bit larger margins than anticipated according to surgeon's post-op discussion (very minimal since I was under anesthesia).

Procedure or Surgery | Savi Scout Transmitter implant.
Went in 1/20/2020 to have Savi Scout implant to track appropriate incision site. Waiting and waiting for radiologist and surgeon to discuss implanting site. Find out maybe place between "two areas." What? Two areas- this is news to me. Breast care nurses show me images and tell me "long way apart in surgical terms"-…

Oh No | Just Diagnosed
Calcifications detected on mammogram. Had two more follow up mammos to verify. Got referral to surgeon who will schedule biopsy and get care team together (apparently that's the normal protocol here in this area). Got a referral to do a stereotactic biopsy on 12/10/19.

What do you do the night before big time surgery? Apparently you don't sleep much.
Up until midnight or so, awake at 3 AM. No problem, I'll get plenty of sleep today, probably pretty deep sleep. It's that waking up thing that is gonna hurt. However it goes and however much it hurts I'm ready to get this thing out of me and get on the other side heading towards recovery. Thanks for your concerns,…

We have had several people ask about time under anesthesia, concerned about how long you can safely
Each operation is different, but I take it that the jest of the question is has anyone had any adverse effects directly related to being under general anesthesia for hours and hours? Anyone? Thanks for your input and we will pass along the feedback.
