Surgery went great, out in 2 two days. Belly really sore and swollen and trying to get use to a stoma and taking care of it is the pits.

Did they send you home with a home health nurse to visit a couple of times a week? They helped me learn how to take care of my stoma. Adjusting to a stoma at first is challenging, both mentally and physically. But it does get better. The best Ostomy group is on Inspire. They post pictures and how to take care of every problem that comes up. And you can vent there about your frustrations. I highly recommend that. I am almost 5 years out from that surgery, and I'm doing fine. Honestly, I'm doing fine. I'm active and exercise and go on day trips where I'm on a bus with people going to botanical gardens, etc. and I manage just fine. You will be okay, I promise. Message me anytime that you need to talk.0
