Yes, I have a friend who has this and the first time I went to her house (in days b4 gps) everywhere I was supposed to to right, she said left and vice versa. It was an interesting trip! :)

I never heard of this but I think I might have it! I have always had a problem with right/left. Also with east/west. I have to stop and think about it. I was terrified many years ago when I took my driver's test that if the tester said, "turn left" I would go right or vice versa. I never knew it was a thing.

There are so many people with this condition. There is even a Facebook Community where people who suffer this condition share ideas about it. The group is called "Directional Disorientation (aka Developmental Topographical Disorientation)." Search it on Facebook. My experience is that when I am driving, in my head, it feels like I am traveling East or North when in reality I am going West or South. It goes on and off. I thought I was going crazy. Nobody could understand me when I explain this phenomenon to them. I am relieved to know that I am not alone.

This came up in a conversation with my cousin today. I never knew it before but apparently he has the same problem I do. Is directional dyslexia genetic? I'll have to ask other members of the family about it. And all this time I thought I had some sort of brain glitch. Well, I suppose that's exactly what I have.
