Was diagnosed with Stage 3 111B colon cancer 3/18. Removed part of colon on 5/18. Began chemo on 8/18. My scan on 8/19 showed a lesion on my 5th left rib. Did radiation for 10 days in August. Oncologist switched me to Opdivo. However, nobody took a sample to see if its cancer on my rib, or scar tissue? My oncologist keeps saying “it might be scar tissue. Why wont they do a biopsy? I mean, it would be nice to know!!!!! Im headed to MD Anderson in March for a second opinion. I really feel like my oncologist will not give me a straight answer. Anybody???

You are on the right track, get a second opinion! That's crazy to worry you without evidence! Geez....sorry to hear this.

I agree - get a second opinion. Sometimes, they don't want to do biopsies because of the location, but they could do a PET scan to see if a lesion is cancerous.

Thanks for your feedback. My oncologist said “they dont do scans to follow up on this kind of lesion.” Ridiculous.
