It's some pretty good news about the state of cancer diagnosis, treatments, and survival rates. Our blog post today has some details. Take a look here http://bit.ly/2Hbse71

I agree this is great news. I got blasted on another site when I posted about it. Several people stated I was buying into the idea that this falsely led others into believing that people with stage III and IV cancers are having easier treatments, etc. For me, better treatment, better screening and improved survival rates are all good news.0

That is great news! I do not wish the "test" that cancer brings to its victims on anyone.0

@Dawsonsmom, i can honestly say that the new treatments for late stage lung cancer (targeted therapies and immunotherapy) are far superior to traditional chemo for most individuals. I can also say that those treatments have prolonged the lives of countless individuals who, without the latest treatments would have become statistics after 6 months or a year.
I came onto the scene when immunotherapy was brand new for lung cancer. Opdivo was known by numbers, not by a name. I went through traditional chemo, failed, and was then blessed enough to get into a clinical trial for immunotherapy. And, my life was 100% better than while on chemo.
So, those who jumped on you weren't speaking for a lot of us!!!!! I am living proof that the new drugs have prolonged lives of stage 4 cancer patients while also giving much better quality of life.0 -
LiveWithCancer, it is so great to hear that the immunotherapy is helping you! I have heard that about several people I know who are on immunotherapy and have remarkable improvement in quality of life.0
