Encore
I don't have the "street cred" that a lot of you have. I haven't gone through chemotherapy. I didn't even have to have radiation, thanks to a great surgeon who acted quickly to remove the cancerous tissue she found in my breast. I often feel unworthy to post anything or share my experience because my road was not full of…

August 2021 Book Club Question
Hi! What are you reading now and/or what books do you recommend?

post vaccine Covid
For those of you who think the vaccine is a magic bullet - it is not. My husband and I were fully vaccinated and both of us got it. To be fair - we were exposed to it for quite a while from family members who were staying with us, but still - there it is. We had light cases. I only had a slight fever for about 4 days, some…

Greg's Kindle Book
Has anyone read Greg's detailed Kindle book? I wonder if it should be published as a hard copy.

What are we reading?
When I was diagnosed, friends gave me *cancer advice/experience* books to read while having my infusions. Forget that - I wanted novels! I wanted all kinds of fiction from autobiographies, to Stephen King's epic thrillers. I am a reader. Many people who had already been done the treatment path told me I would not be able…

Side Effects | Diarrhea

Thankful Thursday
Hi, everyone. How about a Thankful Thursday? I had my annual mammogram last week and got a call back. I went back yesterday for more views and an ultrasound. The doctor believes the issue is just calcifications and wants me to come back in six months for a follow up. Well, I'm not ecstatic about that but I know the news…

Side Effects | Random joint pain
This was mainly from the Neublasta on-pro that I received at each treatment. Day 2 after treatment to day 4 were the hardest. I would have random pain in joints, neck, back and extreme fatigue.

Side Effects | Nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy)
Have it in my fingertips and toes that started after my 5th of six chemo treatments. I did do icing of my hands and feet, but I still have neuropathy. Additionally, my fingernails are all deteriorating and regrowing at the same time.

Procedure or Surgery | Lumpectomy
My mass had about 90% cancer gone, so chemo was working. However, I was hoping the cancer was all gone. Also, cancer was found in 2 or 4 lymph nodes extracted. One was macro-metastasis and one was micro-metastasis. I did have a drain. My surgery was on July 30, 2021, and I am still recovering.

Drug or Chemo Therapy | Targeted therapy
These are the monoclonal antibodies drugs - Herceptin and Perjeta since I am HER2 positive, ER, and PR positive.
-
Drug or Chemo Therapy | Chemotherapy
Started 6 cycles of chemo, Carboplatin, and Taxotere, on March 19, 2021. Also, am having monoclonal antibodies treatment of Herceptin and Perjeta.

Oh No | Just Diagnosed
Diagnosed Feb 16, 2021, with invasive ductal carcinoma. I have a mass and cancer found in a lymph node. I am HER2 positive, ER, and PR positive.

Come As You Are
Good news and bad news? Let's hear it/see it. It seems our "leadership" doesn't care so let's be the strong people I know we are and lay it out there for congratulations and/or support. Good news is I have finally found some tops that I really like that don't seem to require constant adjustments to make those parts of me…

Calling All WhatNext'ers.
This site has come loose from its moorings again and seems to be floating away into oblivion. It is sad to me that we are always bound to enter a specific diagnosis to ask a question. I think there are a great many questions we all have and maybe they are about cancer in general. Maybe they are about COVID, or life, or…

Hair Loss
11-1/2 yrs ago I went thru chemo for Ovarian Cancer. Carboplatin and Taxol were administered for 9 sessions. I knew that all my hair would fall out and that 2 months after treatment it would grow back. It did, thin and limp. My hair has always been coarse and full, no baldness on either side of my family. For the past two…

Any Treatment for Advanced Chemically Induced Neuropathy
I sure wish someone would have shared information about chemically induced neuropathy with me way back when I had my first rounds of chemo. I have had ovarian cancer for over 20 years and have been on many types if chemo therapy....I'm now on Avastin. My feet are so painful that I have trouble walking and as such, my…

Family effects
Has anyone else found that terminal cancer seems to tear the rest of the family apart. Mine was very close, but as soon as I got the final terminal diagnosis, everyone is arguing about different things to the point some family members can't be in the room with each other. I've also discovered dying seems a lot less about…

Post Vaccine Problems?
Hi, everyone! I am assuming most of us are fully vaccinated by now? I am experiencing weird, off & on, pain in my right arm. I got the shot in my right arm because of lymph node removal on my left. I was fine at first, then I began to feel sharp pains in my right elbow, shoulder and wrist. Sometimes in my right torso area…

Why aren’t questions going to Questions?
I hope this question goes to where everyone can see it: Where in the brain does consciousness come from? Just a test question.

Side Effects | Pain
Severe back and joint pain, which comes and goes.

Drug or Chemo Therapy | Immunotherapy
I haven't ever done chemo, and hear that this is so much better... and I believe that. But at 48, this is the only time I have ever felt fatigue, chronic pain and mental fog. So, while it could be worse, it is still difficult to navigate.
