Thankful Thursday

Hi, everyone. How about a Thankful Thursday? I had my annual mammogram last week and got a call back. I went back yesterday for more views and an ultrasound. The doctor believes the issue is just calcifications and wants me to come back in six months for a follow up. Well, I'm not ecstatic about that but I know the news could have been a lot worse. So I'm thankful for that. What are you thankful for today?

Hi, Bug! It’s hard to find your wall here: so many derivatives of “Bug,” but you’re the only “Bug,” so why aren’t you listed first?
I’m so glad, of course, that it wasn’t worse, but (again of course) I wish there’d been nothing at all questionable. I’ve had micro-calcifications two separate times, once years prior to my bc and once years after. Both times was told to wait six months and take another mammo. All okay.
I think there are micros that are definitely cancer and micros that are definitely benign and then the “middle bear,” uncertain. But even if it’s cancer, it’s usually DCIS. I may be wrong, however.
Please keep us posted, Bug.0 -
Oops! I forgot to say what I’m thankful for. I got ten images accepted as Thought Art Magazine’s Artist of the Month virtual solo exhibit. Here’s the link, if anyone wants to look: https://thoughtartmagazine.com/artist-of-the-month

I agree about searching for "Bug". I have done that in the past and thought I might be first but I was way down on the list. Apparently, it isn't an alphabetical list. That's wonderful about your images - congratulations!0

Thanks so much, Bug!0

Bug, I sure hope that in six months time everything is gone. How is your husband doing? I hope he is on the mend.

Carool, that is awesome that you were named Artist of the month. I went to the link, and I really like your work. I have no talents, so I enjoy knowing people that do. Thank you for sharing.0

Thankful I had good scans again. No progression anywhere!! Excited to see my granddaughter in "Matilda" tonight.0

I am thankful we are all still finding ways to connect with each other here, in spite of the difficulties that keep coming our way!
Bug, I honestly believe your doctors would have had you come back sooner than 6 months if they weren't 99.9% sure they were looking at calcium. Let's face it - they might be 100% sure, but they still have to go through the formality of *checking.* It's just how it works - it's more of an inconvenience than anything else.
Carool, I love your images! And I especially love your *artist statement* that puts it all into perspective. So creative, and thoughtful. I will revisit it a lot more! Congratulations on the well deserved recognition!0 -
I had my annual mammo a bit ago. When done, they took me to a different waiting room. With all the covid protocols I didn’t think much. In comes someone asking questions as a bit suspicious was there. In answering vaccination questions, same side arm, recent, etc. took another few squishies and was deemed fine.
This has been a journey from the beginning! Hugs!!0 -
2943, will you say more about the vaccination questions? Did you have the vaccine in the same side arm? I am wondering, because I had my vaccine in the opposite arm arm my surgery, but I have had pain in that arm ever since (April 1). It is a sporadic kind of pain, sometimes in my shoulder, sometimes my elbow, but I can't really decide if it is muscle or nerve pain. I get my mammogram at the end of this month.0

Since my left masectomy in 2016, I only use right arm for bp, blood draws, ivs, etc due to lymph removal thus where I received both Pfizer shots. My mammo was two months later. There are things happening inside us with these vaccines. Designed to ramp up the fighters against this vicious disease. I have heard of peeps having biopsy’s due to this that were false warnings. Having been on three cancer journeys and one reoccurrence, I get anxious before these tests but now take a big deep breath before I react. The gift that keeps giving physically and mentally.
Perhaps you can ask when you have mammo. Let me know!0 -
Bug, so glad you had good news. Also glad for 2943's good news. MLT- glad to hear good news and that your granddaughter will be in Matilda. That definitely sounds entertaining.
Carool, I wish I had just a tiny touch of your talent. Your works are amazing. I do think the artist statement definitely put things in perspective.
I don't have any good news to share, but no bad news either right now. So I guess I will just be thankful there is no bad news. Hubby and I are having a little trouble with some travel companions about a trip, but we will get it worked out. Right now, I have complete control of all of the tickets, so I am glad I won't be left hanging if things go south. LOL0 -
beachbum, my husband is hanging in there. He starts radiation on August 23. We were initially told that chemo would be at the same time but no word on that yet. Thank you for asking.0
-
Bug, check on the radiation schedule. When I was going for that, they wanted me to start the absolute same day as it has been found to be more effective. They only take this path for patients that can handle both. They felt I could even though 68 and 3 cancer treatments in. It worked. In 2017 I was told I had a 20% chance of being here in 5 years. Now there is no signs of cancer. We gotta believe0

MLT, that’s great news about your scans! And your granddaughter being in “Matilda”!
2943, and I’m glad to hear good news re your mammogram. Going for mammograms (and other breast tests) is scary. Always was, even before my diagnosis.
Thank you, Bug, Beachbum5817, MarcieB, legaljen, for your words about my work! Much appreciated!
