Scar Tissue or Lesions on rib
Was diagnosed with Stage 3 111B colon cancer 3/18. Removed part of colon on 5/18. Began chemo on 8/18. My scan on 8/19 showed a lesion on my 5th left rib. Did radiation for 10 days in August. Oncologist switched me to Opdivo. However, nobody took a sample to see if its cancer on my rib, or scar tissue? My oncologist keeps…

What do you do about people wanting to hug you?
While in treatment I am paranoid about everyone snorting, sneezing, coughing, etc. Then you add that to someone who wants to run up and hug you. I don't want hugs! How do you fend them off without just yelling at them?

My doctor wants me to have a PET scan but my insurance is saying they won't pay for one now.
They say a PET is not needed now, wants them to do a ct scan first. This makes no sense to me at all. Why spend the money on a CT then when it won't show what they need they then pay for a PET. This is what's wrong with healthcare in our country these days. Anyone else having trouble getting a PET paid?

A friend of mine saw me yesterday and as we chatted I told her I hadn't been out as much in the last
She dropped her mouth and said, well you don't look like you have cancer! Almost in a way that suggested she didn't think I really did. I didn't know how to take that. Should I be happy that I don't look bad, or angry because she thought I might be lying about having cancer?

Opdivo Side Effects
I would appreciate hearing from anyone in the group who has, or is, experiencing problems with your platelets or blood while taking Opdivo. I have experienced other side effects, however low platelets have been the biggest concern. Thanking you in advance for any feedback.

Game changing test to check for esophageal cancer.
I don't know about you, but there's no way I could swallow a capsule with a string attached to it without gagging and hurling. If you can tolerate it this sounds like a promising way of testing for that type of cancer. Here is an article I was reading about it. Anyone from babies to seniors can suffer from Gastroesophageal…

After I was diagnosed some of my friends were here to support and help me, but several acted like th
Has this happened to anyone else? I mean that they act like they don't want to talk about cancer or talk to me. I have needed a couple of them a couple of times and they disappeared. I just can't believe this after all I have done for them over the years.

Procedure or Surgery | Surgery
Surgery and all the technicalities were all fine. My reactions to the world have been so difficult. I have not had any support from family though. My husband just started catching on the past few years, after the first recurrence. For some reason my immune system is so weak I am constantly sick. I don't know whether it is…

Has anyone started taking antidepressants after you were diagnosed?
I've never had to have anything like that before because I've never been depressed. Not even close, but now I seem to mope around all the time and I can't get rid of this whoa is me feeling. I told my doctor about it and he just said I "might" need to take them. I really don't want to take another drug and I'm afraid of…

Tips to avoid germs when you have cancer
I came across this article on webmd.com. https://www.webmd.com/cancer/immunotherapy-approach-19/treat/slideshow-cancer-germs?ecd=wnl_can_021820&ctr=wnl-can-021820_nsl-Bodymodule_Position1&mb=0LSdc4FLHCzJCnSh7@e4@OHnVev1imbCZim95PoeTt8=. Even though it is rather basic. It gave me some points to ponder. What are your…

Lung cancer and the military
There was an interesting article in the Columbus Dispatch today about a young man fighting lung cancer. He was deployed to the Middle East and worked the burn pits. A healthy young soldier develops stage IV lung cancer. https://www.dispatch.com/news/20200219/honored-soldier-blames-burn-pit-exposure-for-stage-4-lung-cancer

Oh No | Cancer has spread/Metastasized
Well, it’s only fair to report the bad with the good. There are miracles out there, folks who had less than a year and a decade later they’re still humming along. Doesn’t look like I’ll be one of them, though Lord help me, hope just can’t help but spring eternal. I was diagnosed Stage 3a lung cancer in October 2018.…
