What do you have going on this week? Treatments, scans, surgery, check-up? Nothing?

I have a surgery follow up with my ENT Oncologist/surgeon to see how my stoma is healing, and I can get rid of this feeding tube that's hanging out of my belly. I've started eating on my own and I'm able to swallow so far with no issues so it's time to get that sucker out. It's aggravating having to watch out for it all the time. I bumped up against something the other day and it's been sore since then.

What's going on with you this week?

    Greg, you're doing great!!! That's really encouraging!!

    Me ... I have nothing health-related coming up this week except taking my husband to the doctor ... he doesn't have cancer (that we know of) but has lots of other physical ailments (far more than I do).

    KP, yes it is an improvement that is a big goal checked off. Now I'm ready to get this tube out! Just this morning I felt something warm on my leg. I didn't think much of it since I have a heater sitting beside me. I looked down and my tube was draining all over my shirt and pants. That's the first time I've had that happen.

    It is a great improvement. Time for it to come out.
    I had a illeostomy for three months. It was awful. I could hardly eat and it took a while to find the right product for me. I was so happy when I woke up from surgery and found out that it had been reversed. I was so afraid that I would be the 5% of people that it could not be reversed. To me, this was worse than dealing with chemo.
    Now getting ready for my second knee replacement surgery in a couple weeks. Just the things we endure to live.

    More folfiri chemo and a CT scan, plus an MRI to the brain. I think today is the only quiet day for me this week.

    I have to get my blood checked because I am on blood thinners. At some time I have to stop procrastinating about scheduling follow-up tests.

    Had my CT scan follow up. They found a nodule on my lung now not sure if its cancer but can't rule it out she said .having another CT scan done in 3-4 months. As they have nothing at the new hospital to compare the scan with.

    Greg, it’s so good that you’ll be free of the feeding tube.

    The tapes were pulled off off the allergy test patches--it seems that I'm allergic to medicines. With this scientific proof, maybe doctors will quit trying to send me to a shrink, after they read what I and earlier doctors say are allergies.

    The good news is that BUN-Creatinine has gotten itself back in range. That sinus med in the end of May says that people start having bad lab tests. Mine was out of range in August. It is sad--to go through all of this spite all of the time.

    Oh, tomorrow, I'll get the official results--they want to give enough time for everything to be an allergy.

    Greg, that is great news and to think that it was only 4 weeks ago that you had the surgery. You will be their poster child. I hope everyone that is having procedures and tests done will get promising results. Keep us posted on how it goes. I have nothing this week, but next month all I have are doctor's appointments.

    today I have physical therapy, follow up with the oncologist, tomorrow initial visit with the pain doctor I have 7 bulging disc ,and pt on thursday

    Greg ,like Beachbum says>It's only been 4 weeks.You're sure determined and a fast healer for sure after a major surgery.And somewhat a trouble maker lol!>with that tube .So glad you're going to deal with one less thing when they take that tube out.That's a good thing.Enough is enough and you sure had your share physically in your life

    Busy week for me (aren't they all?). Yesterday, follow-up with surgoen. Today I get my car serviced, shop for groceries and visit my mother at her skilled nursing facility. Tomorrow is free massage therapy at oncology unit and support group. Thursday I see orthopedist to decide if I need additional faux cartilage in my knees and then go to mental health counselor. Friday I take my mother to have carpal tunnel surgery. Plus warm water swim in M/W/F. Not all my weeks are like this but it does seem like I commute daily for some health related activty.

    Greg, hope you get that tube removed and can get back some degree of normalcy ( "new" or otherwise) in the life. You continue to inspire.

    Greg - I'm so happy that you are progressing and healing so quickly. You'll feel even better once that feeding tube is gone. Let us pray it is collapsible. I don't think Vandy would use the type I got at another hospital. Spring will be here soon. You and Donna enjoy the milder weather.

    I finish my 1st round of Xeloda today. Side effects are hitting. Decided I am giving up on buttoning my pants for Lent.
