Drug or Chemo Therapy | Chemotherapy
Went for my fourth chemo, last dd-Adriamycin/Cytoxin combo, on Wednesday, 4/29. So far so good. Minimum side effects. Having had an extra week between my second and third chemo seems to have given my body time to heal and recover.

Celebration | Mastectomy Incision Healed Well- No More Appointments for Awhile
My incision and drain port healed well. Surgeon was pleased with everything. I cried a bunch of happy tears- catharsis. I got a "knitted knocker" today to put in my bra to help balance me a little. I am so grateful for my caring and compassionate doctor and her assistant.

On January 29th, 2020 I celebrated my 1year battle with stage IV metastatic breast cancer.
-
Procedure or Surgery | Surgery
After 24 years, the renal cell cancer metastasized to my right lung which presented as heart attack like symptoms. Lower lobe of the lung was removed. That's a surgery like no other!
-
Procedure or Surgery | Surgery
11 months after the first metastasis, it metastasized into my thyroid gland. Removed the gland and now on thyroid hormone meds for the balance of my life. Very rare metastasis, but as both my surgeons said, this shouldn't be happening after this length of time.

Drug or Chemo Therapy | Chemotherapy
I began having coughing fits before my third chemo which kept me from sleeping well. The NP working with my Oncologist suggested I take Claritan every day and also add Prilosec as heart burn is often a side effect of chemo. Both helped as did giving my body an extra week to recover. I had my third chemo on Wednesday, 4/15.
-
Procedure or Surgery | Lumpectomy
I was surprised to find that I am still felling pain and sensitivity a couple weeks after my lumpectomy.
-
Oh No | Just Diagnosed
Based on my biopsy, I was told that I have DCIS. After my lumpectomy, though, I was told that I have stage 1 invasive ductal carconoma and that I need chemo. That threw me for a loop because I was only expecting radiation.

I chose to go back to work so I didn't lose my job and my insurance. I need up with a bowel blockage and after surgery I was terminated anyway because my recovery took longer than expected due to two additional admissions to hospital for bladder/kidney infections.

Other Care | Home care
I had a home health nurse (actually several different ones because the COVID-19 crisis started to ramp up just as I had completed surgery). They came to take vitals and help me with checking the incision site and surgical drain. I could have done okay without them, but it was more a backup for me. Years ago I got…
