Hi, marynock, you are right on about mania and depression being clinical conditions that require medication and therapy. Being told to walk it off or just cheer up is like telling a diabetic to will away his blood sugar issues - it's unbelievable. No one would consider telling someone to walk off their hyperglycemia, or congestive heart failure, so why do they tell us to do so with our disorder? It is truly a lack of understanding. I've been steady on meds for almost 9 years, and, like you, I didn't cry when I found out I had cancer. If you have depression now, it could be chemical or situational or both, but it is so important to address it with proper treatment. I'm glad you wrote on my wall, and if I can offer any encouragement or suggestions, I'm in your corner. My advice now would be to fight the system until you get what you need from it - don't let the red tape prevent you from getting help. I'll be hoping you get that priority appointment! - innadoon0August 2013
