Greg, I assume, from your posts, that you haven't had another episode of fainting. Just writing to ask how you're doing.

Hi, I feel like general practitioners and NIH (health goals) are trying to kill me. If the nurses would just take my BP and not nag me, I'd be a lot better off.

A nurse started nagging me about BP before she put the cuff on. 220/140-she screamed and got my oncologist He came in talked to me-not about BP- then asked if he could check my BP to see if the systolic dropped. It did, Went down to 180, but the diastolic jumped to 160. The nurse was having fits. The doctor told her that I looked healthy, I didn't have any complaints, and many nurses and doctors said that I reacted poorly to the induction. That was a week after I ran from the shoot out, my son was staying in Texas with my dying X. My son was calling twice a day and crying, my scan was due the next week, etc.

One nurse could see my BP going up, while she was taking it. She stopped and asked me what was going on. I told her that it was all of the stupid questions. She said that she wouldn't ask me any more. We talked about my dogs. She took my BP, and it was 120/80.

When I fell and hurt my leg, don't you think that I let the whole staff know loud and clear? I didn't need to be asked if I fell. I pulled up my pant leg and showed them. They asked me if I went to the ER. I asked -Why? it wasn't the first skin that I ever got. They started hassling me about that-I was a wild child. When I was 16, I went down on my side on an asphalt basketball court, with a forward on top of me. We were moving fast- how do you think my side looked? My uniform was shredded. All the ER would do is put a bandage on where I hurt myself from the chair. I'd have allergy problems. The doctor told me to take a different BP med. I went to the pharmacy. The manager came out and said, "Meyati, you've been filling your scripts for a long time, (this is Costco) and if you were my mother, I'd say- Don't take it. I'd dump in down the toilet and I'd go over to the this doctor. When the doctor's office called to see how I was doing, I told them that I read the information paper, and the side-effects were horrible. I never took it home. I asked them if they were trying to kill me off by having me get brain injury when my head landed on a tile floor or the corner of a kitchen cabinet?

I ordered turmeric today. It's supposed to greatly reduce BP.

I feel so trapped. With my IBS, I can't eat veges, fruit. Sugar and grease make me sick. I keep telling these doctors this. My thyroid is a factor of my BP. I just wish that they'd leave me alone. Take my temp, weigh me, and ask what I'm in for. I don't mind going over the meds, which gets the nurses' BPs up. I have one med with 4 names- Then they can't pronounce some of them, or the brand name is listed, but I'm taking the generic. So it looks like I'm taking a thousand meds, but I'm only taking 4. because I'm allergic to Neosporin, they have to prescribe fancy things that I pay for out of my pocket. One is $75, but it's better than getting worse and living in the ER.

Hi Greg: I got into one of the survey groups that Whatnext steered my way!! Thank you for doing that! It's great to get a stipen for my time... But even greater to be able to speak as a patient and feel that your conversation with them could 'make a difference' for somebody else!!

Sorry for the incredibly late response... for some reason, responses to my questions go to spam or completely disappear. I'm still trying to figure out this website! And, as you know, life intervenes! Hyperthermia is the use of radio waves to heat the tumors (and/or body?)... making them more sensitive to chemo and immunotherapy...

Hi Greg, I am not receiving emails from the site. Like follow-ups on questions I have participated in or others. I was not on for a few weeks so I don't know if that would have anything to do with it, I would not think so. Any who, if you could check into it for me. Thank you

Greg, there seems to be growing interest rare cancers. What sort of makes me feel sad is that it's British CommonWealth countries that are doing this. As they come up with cures, it will probably take years and years before Americans can use any of these meds.

I wonder if Hugh Jackman has anything to do with it. For some reason, Ireland has 50% of Europe's BCC cases.England can't be far behind. They found me on McMillian.

Yesterday I was called by a Canadian and an English company.

As odd as it sounds, the Canadians did a quality of life psych eval.
They basically asked me how much physical misery and temporary facial disfigurement that I'd take for a cure. Like talking- they hadn't thought of the mouth until I told them about the ulcers, my gum happened to be tender where it hurt to bite, and I have permanent ridges inside my mouth where my teeth touch my cheek. It was hypothetical-- It was like getting a million dollars if we chopped off your little finger--I do think that I'd go for that. I'm not sure that I'd allow an eye to be taken out for a million. Little fingers are for wearing pretty rings. I can put rings on the other pinky.

Hi GregP - just saw the post of tumor and blood vessel. Most interesting to me because I just had 2nd chemoembolization on my liver. Haven't read the article yet. I'm grateful for WhatNext. I needed to find other cancer survivors and sufferers because it can get very lonely dealing with all the stuff involved. I have a great husband who takes care of me on bad days and good, but he hasn't experienced any radical illness, thank God! Love, hugs and prayers to you from Grammyma.

Greg could you post a pic of Lauren Hill-basketball-shes' on Yahoo-- she's expected to die in a few weeks from a rare brain cancer. Sat she played for her college team and made 2 baskets. She's been going to practice at 5 AM, in spite of headaches, weakness, loss of motor control and fatigue. The NCAAA opened the women's basket ball season 2 weeks early so she could wear her uniform for her team. The coach decided to put her in at the beginning in the hopes that Mary Saint Joseph would get the tip. Then he put her in the end of the game. During practice she ran up and down the court til she couldn't. God bless this Brave Heart. Could WhatNext have a Brave Heart page for people like Angelina Jolie, Lauren Hill, Gen. Grant, Lance Armstrong. and Brittany Maynard, who died with dignity.

Greg I see you have watched the death of close family die from cancer I have as well. I was always terrified I would get it one day and now I have. My question is how do you handle when the fear seems to take hold? I do well most of the time and stay positive for the most part but Fall has been rough on me lately and I have a co-worker losing her battle as we speak and I have a CT scheduled all making it very difficult on me. I have been fighting tears for over a week and cant seem to pull myself together ADVICE please

The shared and open conversation about cancer in the United States, started with the example of another great leader. Up until the 1880s cancer was seen as a great rotting, a disgrace, a sign that one’s body was corrupt because of the corruption of the soul. No one talked about the dread illness and those who were struck low were doomed to die in shame and alone. Then, Ex-President and honored Civil War General, Ulysses S. Grant was affected by mouth cancer, the harvest of years of tobacco use. What made his eventually fatal illness remarkable was that for the months that he suffered, it was a public affair. Because of the nation’s love for him, the newspapers, the tabloids, gave almost daily reports of the ups and downs of his illness. Instead of shame, he allowed his condition to become the focus of conversation and he changed the entire conversation about cancer then and forever more.
By not retreating into the shadows, by maintaining a public persona through much of his illness, Grant taught the country that cancer was a disease of the body and not of the person, the soul. After his death, even though most people, indeed most doctors, did not have even a basic understanding of tumors, we began the public discussion which, over the coming century, has allowed tremendous advances and hope. A great leader taught not with his words but with his ultimate and personal deed.

This is the middle of a tribute to Boston mayor Thomas M. Menino. This goes on about Angelina Jolie. It also has more about President Grant. I found this and wanted to share this.

Who would think that Gen. Grant basically started American cancer care and research?

Hello, trying to find how I would ask about what to do when read answers that may be considered offensive/insensitive to some posted by others? Does anyone "monitor" for such things? Most of the time 99.9% all seem encouraging/helpful but have been surprised by some answers that are better just left unsaid. I guess one can always just ignore it which obviously will do but was just wondering. I would email/contact you or whomever the example as would not post of course. Thanks
