Hi neighbor, just checking in to see how you are doing. Enjoying the nice weather I hope. I got good news this week, the Pet scan was all clear! Tumor markers dropped almost 200 points though they are still not normal. So I have smooth sailing for next 3 months when markers are scheduled again. Catch you later......:)0May 2014

Hi Al, you make me laugh. I did think the leaves were pretty this year but I sure don't miss raking. I live in an apartment now so don't have to rake. When i was growing up (and up till about 7 yrs ago) I raked leaves at my moms. We had 1.27 acres and raked probably half of that. I didn't mind raking em so much as carting them away. I would rake em onto a big tarp and then toss em in the woods. Anyway it is good exercise. Good for you that you had your own business. Do you still cut hair? Always better to work for yourself than somebody else. Well, you know what comes after raking leaves, right? Shoveling snow. lol....catch you later.....Carol0November 2013

Thanks for the positive words alscut12. I know I will be able to do the things I love again. It just struck me at the wrong time I guess. I am doing non-strenuous things I love like drawing and arts and crafts. I'm not really a "beach" person (I burn and peel) but I do like to go clamming and be down by the ocean. Nice you have a summer house to go to. Can't wait for summer! lol...its snowing today. Oh well, hope you are well. Catch you later....:)0November 2013

Hi Alscut,
Thanks for your response! I was not told anything about the oxygen, but I have seen it mentioned in here numerous times! My dentist is a prosthetic dentist who also works at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center! He also has his own private practice, that's where I go! I see him Monday for a check up! He will discuss a plan of action if the teeth do fall out! Not sure what they can do! I hope they don't fall out! So far so good! It is over a year since radiation! Glad I like sound and macaroni! Keep in touch Joe0November 2013 -
Well you got to see a great game...Brady is back, Gronk is back and they kept running and throwing all day...I'll take 7-2 for now!0November 2013

I am doing well, thank you. I am halfway through chemo with 3 more rounds to go. So far , so good, knock on wood. I have a couple of bad days each time but all in all not nearly as bad as I expected.
The trees around hare are getting really pretty. With the cool weather now they be spectatcular. Even the oaks trees are turning really pretty burgundy and maroon.
I 'm glad you seem to be taking it as it comes as frustrating as that may be. Attitude counts for a lot in recovery I think. Take care and keep me posted......:)0October 2013 -
Hi alscut12, thought I'd check in to see how you are doing. You are having a heck of a time with the wounds not healing. I hope they can find a way to help you.0October 2013

From the X-rays I have seen of my surgery sight, mine looks like a rod that is attached to the new bone. Its pretty amazing to see. What are the Drs recommending??? Yesterday we got 4 inches of snow at our house in Big Bear. Hearing your family and you were here makes me realize how small a world it really is. Yes we are strong and the tough times make us strong. Sometimes I wish we were not tested so much. Saying that, I am really blessed with everything I have in my life. Please let me know how you are doing!0October 2013

Because some of the nerves were damaged during the surgery, I will always have loss of sensation of that side. The Dr's had to get clear margins and the nerves were damaged. I have only had salivary gland cancer, both sides of lower jaw. Is your plate titanium or other metal? Do the Dr's know why it is taking so long to heal? It was a very tough ordeal to get through with nose tubes for weeks to aid the healing but somehow look back and have found peace. I lost all my taste buds during radiation, and threw up daily from it as well. I do have most of my taste buds back. The Dr's said some things I will learn to taste it differently. I am always worried it will come back and am still considered "high risk" for the latest cancer on the right side. Taking one day at a time was a huge help for me.0October 2013

Yes they shaved leg bone and mixed with titanium and some tissue. I do have slight sensation loss on the left side. I am 44 years old now and am doing well. I had same cancer on opposite side 3 years ago but it was caught at early stage and they were able to remove just tumor. Hopefully last time.0October 2013

I am sorry you are having problems healing. I have heard that the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy helps wounds heal. Don't know much about it though.
It was such a beautiful day here yesterday and is supposed to be today too. Try to enjoy it.0September 2013 -

When you say your wound won't heal, are you talking about the side effects from radiation causing the jaw area to not heal? Osteoradionecrosis it's called. I had a tonsil malignant and radiation to my mouth and neck, then I had to have all my teeth surgically pulled/cut out. My doctors were worried about me having this condition too. So far, I have healed up, but very slowly.0September 2013
