Welcoming Wednesday

I always welcome Wednesday. It’s half way through the work week but that’s not what I want to have for the focus here.
Tell us about your providers who are welcoming. Is it their demeanor? Their office space? Their staff? What makes it/them welcoming?
We focus so much on the hard parts our journey sometimes, that we let go of the parts that ease the burden occasionally.
Maybe your provider comes to you. It doesn’t have to be the doctor. Maybe it’s your home health care, or someone who brings you meals, or pharmacy home delivery.

I no longer see my breast surgeon (and I hope to never again need to see her), but she was and is (she’s still there) extremely reassuring and welcoming (as well as being a very talented breast surgeon). Her office is part of the breast center where breast cancer patients are seen and treated; all of the staff there is friendly and upbeat. I’ll always love my surgeon.0

My providers work as a team as well. My breast surgeon was great, she was my advocate in getting MRIs in addition to 3D mammograms and I trust her completely. When something unusual pops up, which it seems to have done, she joins the visits that I have with the NP that I see now. I also see an NP who works with my breast oncologist as well as the OB-GYN oncologist who tracks my progress on Tamoxifen, pretty much alternating between them every six months. There hasn't been anyone at the cancer center I go to that I haven't felt was someone I wanted to work with.0

I seem to get these a day late. So, Thankful Thursday; I am so thankful for my team at the Spielman!! And for Weds; I always get friendly greetings from everyone. Last visit, the infusion nurse put off her lunch time so she could see me. Feel so loved by them!0

I loved my surgeon as well. She looks like Nikki Haley. When she came into the operating room for my surgery, she said to her staff, "Oh, don't you just love this operating room? It's my favorite one." What I was seeing was a concrete brick wall, painted chocolate brown, lined with shelves. What SHE saw was her preferred environment to work. I was immediately comforted to know she was relaxed and happy to be where she was, doing what she knows best.0

I too loved my breast surgeon! He had a good bedside manner and sense of humor, and I felt safe in his care. He was a Christian and even prayed for me after one of the consultations. When it was time to take out my port, he asked me if I was ready to be deported, and we had some fun conversations during the procedure. I found out he enjoyed Star Trek, and joked about his removing my Borg implant! LOL HUGS and God bless.0

Thank you all for sharing.
@Ditmoll, best wishes for speedy and least invasive necessary intervention for whatever popped up.0
