So cool that you are getting Opdivo also!! How long have you been getting it? What have your results been? Are you in a clinical trial?
So many questions! I don't think i have ever known anyone who is on the same drug!! I am an evangelist for it!!0June 2015 -

Hi April,
I makes me happy to hear you are doing well.
Are you stage IV I can't remember? If so would you be open to connecting with a friends dad who lives in Indianapolis who has NSCL stage IV. He is about 6 months behind you in treatment. I am not sure if he is interested in doing this, but I am trying to encourage them to connect with folks with similar conditions. He is also going to IU.0February 2014 -
Hi! I read your profile and am very impressed I to have recently diagnosed with stage Iv nsclung cancer was also scared to death. I had my first chemo tuesday Jan 14 2014. carboplatin alminta and avastin. Today is thurs and I am very fatigued. I don't care about losing my hair. I'll laugh and put on a baseball cap. I'm not nauseas, but very bloated and tons of gas. I'm 68 and have a good since of humor and I will laugh at myself have a lot of faith and will kick this cancer in the ASS!!!0January 2014

Are you confused because you thought the side effects would be less or worse? Eventhough everyone's experience with chemo may vary, there are many similarities. What you have mentioned is about what is expected. What questions are your doctors not answering?0March 2013

I hope you're feeling better today! And on those days when you think you'll never feel normal again, just know that it gets better.0January 2013

Kewl wig. I guess it's easier for us guys to lose the hair. I just shaved as soon as it started to fall out. Keep that positive, can do attitude and that awesome sense of humor. There will be days when those are all you have, but they will be enough to see you through. Laughter really is a great healer. Keep us informed as you travel this path that we here have all had to. I was really glad that you chose to get out of Allen County and go with a major teaching hospital, and I just cannot say enough good things about the Simon Cancer Pavillion. I still mention you whenever I talk with God, and I will continue to. Hang in there - the end really is in sight now.0January 2013

Thanks for sharing. I felt good for about three days after each chemo. Then the side effects started! Felt better about the time when the next treatment came around. Hang in there. Loved your picture:)0January 2013

This is such a great haven. People here care and are generous in sharing their experiences which most non-cancer people never really want to hear about. I hope you get all the support you need and without pulling puches: Yes, it is a rough and tough battle.
Stay strong. And if all you can do in one particular day is nap - do that. It will help.0January 2013 -
i LOVE your smile!!! never been where you are going, but my prayers are with you, keep smiling+++0January 2013

I, too, am at Simon Cancer Center and have nothing but the highest regard for the doctors there. Its been 2 years (almost) since I was diagnosed with nsclc. chemo is tough but be strong and know that your doctors will help you thru it. I also lost all my hair and couldnt bother with scarves and wigs - and wore my bald head proudly.
My thoughts are with you.0January 2013 -
Hang in there. For me, chemo side effects were minimized if I ate pasta or a simple carb before treatment. Take it easy, rest a lot and know you're taking correct action to rid youself of cancer.0January 2013

Great pic greensmythe! I hope issues you had after the picture didn't keep your spirit down! You are a trooper sista and I'm honored to have you in the family. kimg090January 2013

Looking good! I had my treatment at Simon Cancer Center, and they were great to me. Try not to expect too much from yourself after your chemo. Get lots of rest and try to eat good foods. Let people take care of you. I know that's hard, but they will appreciate it as much as you will. Blessings to you!!0January 2013

I, too did some visualization exercises. I won't try to describe my 2 friends ( you probably wouldn't believe what they liiked like anyway ) who helped me by placing good things into my body and pulling cancer cells out. Hey - it worked.0January 2013

What I kept telling myself through treatment was that it was a small price to pay to be alive. But that being said, treatment is harsh, and I wish you all the best. Just remember there is light at the end of the tunnel.0January 2013

You can do this greensmythe! I was feeling my oats after my first treatment, and stopped at Walmart on my way home. First mistake, haha. I should have gone right home to take it easy. Lesson learned!! Best wishes to you, my friend.0January 2013

Thumbs up back to you, take special care of you. Right now you are your own baby.0January 2013

Hang In there. there must be some truth in the old saying that these things make us stronger, we hear it often enough.
Keep it positive and smile0January 2013 -

Hi, how are you doing? Have you been able to enjoy the holidays? Both of my daughters have made it home (one from Japan!) so my holidays have been really special--and really busy.0December 2012

Just checking on you to see how your doing, have you started treatment yet?
Let us know, just thinking about you today.

Greensmythe, thank you for the kind words, it is nice to hear that your words can have a positive effect. I am always here if you need anything and no matter what a doc tells you, never give up until you are ready to. CHOOSE, NEVER YIELD! You are in my thoughts, Carm.0December 2012
