Dear Marshala1, you are blessed. With God's help I'm in Stage4 cancer for almost 2 years. I'm a religious Baptist and praise God each morning. I actually have my own praise service. It is God's will that keep you where you are. My family has "lynch syndrome" (website: Mayor Clinic) it's generational cancer, a disruption on the cancer DNA strand. I have lost my grandad,my mom, father, and brother from cancer. I have had endometrial cancer years ago, then breast cancer, now small bowel cancer. It's my DNA. I'm now 73 and don't worry about it. I do what I can while I can. I want you to read my poem "Waiting on the Lord." I wrote it late one night when I pondered my situation.

Help me my Lord, what should I do?
I’ll now let go and now let you,
guide me oh Lord and heal my soul
from heavy heart with painful goal.

I called you boldly not in shame.
Where were you my Lord when I called your name?
I prayed to you with so much praise
I prayed to you for so many a days.

Did you not see me dance for you,
while silently singing a song or two?
My hands held high to give you praise
Come help your child, end earthly days.

I’m crying out, what more to do?
With solemn faith I've waited for you.
He then spoke softly in my ear
So sweet, so kind, I had no fear

Hello there,
It's be awhile since we connected. Glad to see you are still doing well. We were able to take our 70th year blowout vacation, traveling on our own to Japan, Bali, New Zealand and Australia. Can you believe it! We are still stunned that we could pull it off and feel so darned lucky, no relapse symptoms yet so moving along with life. You are so kind in your comments to others on this site. R-CHOP is becoming a more distant memory. I'm also appreciating how lucky I was to have no complications, it's much harder for some people. I haven't been around much because I've been kinda blue. I lost my job. It wasn't handled very nicely. I had a bad case of the "poor me's". I'm starting to come out of it though.

Real thoughts
Dear God I don't know why I became infected with Cancer. And frankly I don't care. All I wish is to be rid of it and everything associated with it.
I realize it will take many successful treatments to overcome this invader,
Chemicals that can kill me, radiation that will burn me as well as many other side effects yet known.
I will do all these things because like everyone else I want to live. But I know that no matter what without my God and his will I have no chance to survive. He will be the one and only deciding factor as to my future. Anyone who beleive's
differntly wont make it. So I do all required. But mostly I pray continually for my God to heal me and rid me of this disease. And If for some reason I don't make it ,well haven't I been trying to get to heaven my whole life anyway.

I read what you wrote about your husband. I feel that based on what you posted God wants him around for a very long time.

Healing Prayer
Dear Lord of Mercy and Father of Comfort,
You are the One I turn to for help in moments of weakness and times of need. I ask you to be with your servant in this illness. Psalm 107:20 says that you send out your Word and heal. So then, please send your healing Word to your servant. In the name of Jesus, drive out all infirmity and sickness from my body.
Dear Lord, I ask you to turn this weakness into strength, suffering into compassion, sorrow into joy, and pain into comfort for others. May your servant trust in your goodness and hope in your faithfulness, even in the middle of this suffering. Let me be filled with patience and joy in your presence as I wait for your healing touch.
Please restore me to full health, dear Father. Remove all fear and doubt from my heart by the power of your Holy Spirit, and may you, Lord, be glorified through my life.
As you heal and renew me Lord, may I bless and praise you.
All of this I pray in the name of Jesus Amen

I read your comment. To help make a cancer victim feel good for even I second is the greatest gift God could have given me. We all have cancer and in time God will do what he will with each of us. I will add you to my daily prayers. Be assured there will always be one person on earth always asking God to cure YOU.

Wonderful news. Yippee!! I don't get regular scans, but had this one because of checking out another problem, so no time to be concerned. I, too, am grateful that I am not an anxious person and can enjoy my health now and don't want to waste good years worrying. Going to Wash. D.C. For Labor Day weekend. Do this every year, only 4 hrs. from here and never crowded. Have a good,holiday weekend.

We also love the beach, and go to the North Carolina beaches often, our favorite place.
We had to cancel the hike in Spain. I'm having a "difficult to diagnose foot problem" doesn't seem to be neuropathy, still having tests. It's like walking on squishy marbles.
I'm trying not to have everything I experience automatically related to cancer. After all, there is the aging thing. Do you find that you do that too? We're visiting grandkids, always the best.

I'm so glad you found me. We are clearly on the same road. I'm getting treatment at Univ. of NC hospital. They have been great. Isn't it wonderful to have energy again and get back to living fully. Are they doing any follow up with you, PET scans? I am not doing anything right now but 6 monthly blood tests and yearly visits to the oncologist. That feels like the right decision. Since my lymphoma was found by accident with no symptoms, I don't trust my body when it feels good but that's how it is.
I'm planning another trip in September. I'm 68 and have a very good support network. Get going on that trip!

In my case, after I finish 4 monthly treatments the doc says I will get quarterly maintenance treatments with Rituxan and Bendamustine.

Glad to help. It sounds like you had a B-Cell lymphoma. Even the aggressive B-Cell lymphomas show a better response to chemo than the T-Cell lymphomas. We all become disheartened when Googling on prognosis. That is why it is often recommended to avoid the web and just make your own survival curve by keeping the fight up, seeking second opinions and being your own advocate. My life has been spared at least twice, but a second opinion saved it, as the first oncologist did not even see cancer. Neither did the first pathology lab. Doctor wanted to wait. At that stage, I had about three months to live. It was close, but miracles do not need much time! All the best to you.
