When you go for your appointment, have your questions for the doctor written down and please, do not go to the appointment alone if at all possible. That first appointment with your gyn/ onc is usually an emotional one for a survivor and it helps to have a second set of ears to hear what the doctor is saying and also for the additional emotional support. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. We are all here for you.

Lynne's given you some great advice. Remember, the doctors and other medical professionals are there for YOU so take your time, don't get flustered and ask all your questions. Like Lynne, I had a list for most early appointments to make sure I got them all answered. I also took my boyfriend of 20 years along as he had questions and a different perspective than mine. As my primary caregiver, there were things he wanted to know that I never even considered. Plus he kept me calm and focused.

I hope your interview goes well and remember, stage IV is not a death sentence. Chemo is totally doable (get a chest port), and most important, we are here for you.
