Lynn, I read your comment about looking at a FB group for the answer re: Doxil. I hope you are also on FB, recommending this group, too. I would hate to see the focus get diluted into many places, and this one is very pertinent and not likely to get overwhelmed with ancillary issues. Thanks.

Hey Lynn, it's been a long time. Are you going to OCRA conference this year?
    June 2019
  • kalindria
I am scheduled for chemo (both Topotecan and Avastin) on July 13th so that's my hesitation with attending the conference. After 6 months away from chemo, and a vacation where I'll miss two rounds, I'm hesitant to postpone yet again. And I am afraid I'm going to feel like crap during the conference.

OMG Lynn, I was at the OCRFA conference and didn't even think to ask you if you were going!!!! I would have loved to meet you. I was part of the group from Columbus, OH. What a missed opportunity!

Hello Lynne-I-Am...I just now finished your 5 year cancer journey, and believe wholeheartedly that you will have many more years of time to spend with your family and friends. My wife and I have 6 grandchildren...3 from our daughter and 3 from our daughter-in-law. This past 2018 Holiday we spent with our son, and his family, 2 boys and 1 girl, (in Illinois). The girl is the oldest of all the grandchildren at age 14. We switch off every year by spending the Holiday with our son and family, and then with our daughter and family, (in Pennsylvania) the following year. Our daughter has 2 girls and 1 boy. One of the girls is the second oldest of the grandchildren at age 13. My wife...their grandmother, is from Thailand, and our grandchildren us Thai nicknames when calling us. Our daughter's children have to call us Yi, (grandma), and Tha (a hard Th for grandpa). However our son's children have to call us Yah, (grandma), and Poh, (grandpa). It's a gender issue. Any way I didn't mean to make this email about me. It is about your 5 year cancer journey, and how successful it has turned out for you. God Bless you and keep your journey a cancer free one as you continue down the path of remission. All my best to you...Russ

Thank you for welcoming the new users on the site and offering your help! Survivors like you and I give the newly diagnosed a little help that if we can make it through it, they can too!

Lynne, thank you for welcoming new members to the site! Your experience as a survivor is a valuable thing. Newly diagnosed people feel like they are not alone when survivors like us reach out to them. Just a quick little note lets them know that we are here, and they can get support if needed.
Thanks again, and we hope you're continuing to do well.

Lynne how are you doing. I was glad to hear your friends are safe but sad to hear they lost their home. The smoke has reached us here in Idaho it is only a yellow alert. I looked on the airquality map and the smoke has gone deep into Canada and covers most of the Pacific Northwest. It must be h e l lish where you are. Still praying for all of you. I lived in Sutter County for 8 years and I lived in Orange County before that.

Hi Lynne! I'm back from Montana and I LOVED it. The ranch was peaceful and the setting ideal. They have a lovely labyrinth and I felt wonderful walking it. We could hear the creek from our cabin and saw tons of animals - the ranch is only about an hour from Yellowstone.

We even had a fun jaunt into town where we visited the local distillery and sampled their yummy whiskeys.

Can't wait to hear about your cruise adventures.

    Hello!
I just joined...and wanted to contact you since i have metastatic colon cancer and just revealed mets in both ovaries. They have grown during my chemo treatment instead of shrinking so i have surgery planned for October. My onc said that ovaries can be resistant to chemo...did you have any experience with that?
I will be creating my experience profile as soon as I am off work today. Thank you!

    Hy Lynne-I-Am,
This is lisanjca. Thanks again for your uplifting message. I was able to receive some good news yesterday from my surgeon at MSK. My CT scan was completely clear and my CA125 was an 8. My doctor was shocked and believes that I may not have ovarian cancer after all. She wont know until she goes in on Wednesday, but I am happy to have some good news. I am trying not to get my hopes up too high, but I do feel much better mentally. I hope and pray that my doctor is correct, but realistically know that that may not be the case. I will keep you posted. And again, thank you so much for reaching out to me. I have felt so alone and scared for many months now.

I joined that FB group for OVCA survivors but quit when I got in an argument with one of those "sugar feeds cancer" idiots. Just not enough upside in that group for me. I'd much rather be here.

We just wanted to thank you for your help, support and guidance for those that come to the site looking for help. I remember 9 years ago when I was diagnosed for the first time, and how relieved I was when I was able to find answers, help, and hope!

Please take a minute and browse those questions when you log on and see if there are any you can offer some help on. You just might be the light of someone's day!

And, it would be great if you would post one of your favorite inspirational quotes or pictures on the Pinboard. Lots of people browse that page looking for something to gather hope from!

Thanks again from all of us on the WhatNext Team!

    Five demographic questions:

    2. What is your ethnic background?
    3. Is there a history of cancer in your family?
    4. What kind of cancer were you diagnosed with?
    5. What stage was your cancer in when they caught it?

    Five health behavior/emotion/outcome questions:
    1. What symptoms did you experience to lead you to diagnosis?
    2. After diagnosis, what treatment option did you choose from?
    3. Who was your biggest source of support throughout your cancer diagnosis?
    4. Do you believe any particular health behaviors led to your development of cancer?
    5. How did you react when you received your diagnosis of cancer?

    * I see that some of the answers are already posted on your wall.

Hey lady, just wondering how you're doing. Has the weather started to change yet? Hope it's not as hot as it was. We're supposed to get some rain today and maybe the rest of the week but I'm not so sure. At least the temperatures are cooler and I can sleep at night. I still have to stay out of the sun because of the Doxil chemo - that's tough. My garden has suffered because of it.

I took my photos from Scotland and made a photo book out of them. Took it with me to my last chemo and spent the time reliving those days. It was awesome.

I hope you are well and happy.

    Hugs,
    Diann

Hey Lynne, Just checking in to see how it's going with you. While I'm excited about our Scotland trip (only 10 more days til we leave!!), I'm struggling with side effects from my chemo treatments.

Just wanted to share that my last CA 125 - prior to the start of this round of chemo but after surgery - was 30! Now that's progress!

Hope you're doing well and that the summer heat isn't too bad there.

    XOXO,
    Diann

Lynne-- here's a link for a petition that melanie lives in the White House or she pays for her own security. I was amazed by how many people from red state signed this. I hope that you will.
