Our town has a special facebook site where people can ask who is available for certain jobs, have you tried looking online? Or if you attend a church, that is a good source for volunteer help.

The following was copied from cleaningforareason.org--

Cleaning for a Reason provides free home cleaning to patients battling cancer. When cancer makes life at home difficult, our trusted network of residential cleaners, cleaning industry volunteers, and community volunteers come together to support cancer patients and their families.

Volunteers came to my home monthly and cleaned my home when I was receiving chemo and working full time. They did fantastic work and it was a delight to come home to a clean house after working all day.

Perhaps your doctor's office or hospital social work office may have some resources. Obviously they know the resources for home health care, but sometimes they have resources for housework, chores and errands as well.

I second Marcie's suggestion of checking with a community Facebook page, a church or other civic group you may attend. You may even want to check with a local college to see if there are students who are just looking to pick up side jobs.

Also, there is a website called "Nextdoor" where people often seek or advertise services and just chat about things in their community. I have found it very useful in the past when looking for various vendors- plumbers, painters, housekeeping services. I find it can be a bit more reliable than a Facebook group unless you are well acquainted with those in the Facebook group. We have had some scams in our local Facebook groups- Buy/Sell/Trade groups, lately.

DoreenLouise- what a great resource- this Cleaning for a Reason. I am guessing there is a network of such people who donate their time. Is this just a local thing, or is it a nationwide organization? I only ask because I was initially given a "knitted knocker" shortly after my mastectomy and then I found out that people all over the place do "knitted knockers." So maybe someone in your area knows someone in "Henderson's" area that does "Cleaning for a Reason."
