Hi! Haven’t been here for awhile. I just read this and think it’ll be of interest: https://www.cancerhealth.com/blog/can-mRNA-vaccines-help-treat-cancer

I hope to check in more often.

Thanks for posting, Carool. It is very interesting. I sure hope that it gets approved for pancreatic cancer, since there is not much that helps with that. Clinical trials are what we need to help in the fight against cancer. I am thankful every day for the women that participated in the trials for Herceptin and got it approved. I wouldn't be here without them.

Thank you, beachbum5817. I so agree. My tumor was also HER2-positive, though I’ve never had Herceptin. When I was diagnosed (in 1999), my hospital was giving Herceptin for only metastatic disease. I’m glad it’s available, should I ever need it.

And it’d be so great if better treatments for pancreatic cancers and other very hard-to-eradicate cancers (such as GBM) were devised.

I agree, this is a very interesting article. It's encouraging to be reminded how one thing can connect to another. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a positive come from Covid, of all things!

Bug, thank you. I’d read that the mRNA vaccine research had been ongoing even some years prior to the advent of the novel coronavirus, and that previous research made it easier and faster for the scientists to adapt vaccines against the virus. At least, this is my non-scientist’s interpretation.

    Hi Friends!!!
And thanks for posting this article Carool.
My cancer is also HER2+, and I had a year of Herceptin and Perjeta. Now I've learned that they are using longer time periods for Herceptin. Almost all the 'new' stuff that's paying the bucks for commercials and ads do not include the HER2+. But new things happen all the time.

Thank you, Ashera. My tumor was HER2+, too. Yes, the researchers are constantly devising new treatments and ways of understanding various kinds of breast cancers.
