Here is an update about adjusting to a new life living as a laryngectomee. As we hear often cancer patients have a "new normal". This thing has nothing "normal" about it, but it is mine. So I'm learning the unique quirks to being a "neck breather". Here is my latest article>>http://bit.ly/3cZtadd

Hang in there Greg. When I worked as a Children's Librarian in Sutter County CA ., there was a judge who had one of those "neck breather" thingys. Everyone understood him perfectly. I was a witness in one of the cases he tried and would say the defendant was trembling and rightly so.
I have confidence you will become very skillful in speaking0 -

You are a true hero, Greg. Very few on this earth could undergo what you have for decades now and continue to pour yourself out encouraging others. Amazing.0

Greg - I've always held you in high esteem since I've joined this group. I am at a loss for words to describe how much more that I am feeling towards you now. I'm a pretty tough old bird but I never could have gone through your most recent experience. I think I would have just given up. You are braver than anyone I know. You retain your sense of humor no matter what happens including your description of the feeding tube removal. You can quickly assess your current state and forge on. I know that Donna is a big part of your fight and rightfully so. I send my thoughts and prayers to both of you.0

Greg, I’m so glad you are marching along towards learning how to communicate with your electro larynx. Your writing about your experience is clear and concise and will be immensely helpful to anyone else undergoing the operation and resulting difficulties you and your wife are dealing with. I hope you will find other joys to replace what you’ve lost through this surgery. Sending virtual hugs -0

Thank you all for the kind words. I appreciate it, but when people say these things I continue to say I have no choice, I have to move forward. But at the same time, I understand that some people don't have the same attitude. Another reason that I advocate for a good outlook on each day that we are presented.
I wish you all the best too.0 -
