Today we go to Vanderbilt to see about getting this stupid feeding tube out.

It was great when it was needed for the first 3 weeks or so, but since then it's just in the way and has started to hurt where it enters my belly. I'm hoping there is nothing seriously wrong. It has started hurting and when I bump it the pain is pretty bad. So I hope to be relieved of that tube today.
What do you have going on this week?

Greg, hoping they take it out today!! Since you’re ready for it to be out, I’m assuming that you are able to eat and that in and of itself is good news. Fingers crossed!0

I surely hope that this relieves your discomfort.0

Travel safely. I hope last night's storms don't cause you any troubles getting there and getting that thang out!0
-
So congrats! What is your first meal going to be--- maybe chicken soup & applesauce?0

Yay! I hope that it’s out by now and you’ll be more comfortable.0

Today has been less than smooth. The feeding tube was removed. If you've never had one removed just ask them to cut off a finger instead, it will hurt less.
After that fresh hell we started walking down the hall to leave and in about 50 I had to stop and sit down because of being dizzy.
So they sent us down to the emergency room. 5 hours later we are heading home. It's always an adventure any more.

Oh Greg. I'm sorry. Take it easy and rest up.0

Greg, I’m so sorry. I’m glad that’s over.
I’m assuming you’re nowhere near Nashville and those horrendous tornadoes.0 -
Carol we are 100 miles west, but that path of destruction went for 200 miles and started 6 miles from our home. Two people were killed in the town next to us.0
-
Greg, thank you. It’s horrendous. I’m so sorry, but happy you and Donna are fine.0

Carool, and everyone else that has asked about if we had damage from the tornados last night, thanks for asking. This string of destruction started a few miles from us and went on across the State last night.
This is the second time in about 10 years that the same thing has happened. The last time it started a few miles from us and one of our friend's Mom was killed while outside trying to find her pet.
Right now, there are 25 confirmed deaths in TN with from 20 to 30 missing.0 -
Greg, this is so sad.0

Sigh. What a day. I’m so sorry about the procedure and the tornadoes. Was the dizziness because of the procedure and all it entailed or something else? What’s next for you?0

I am so glad that you were able to have the feeding tube removed. I can only imagine how bad it must have hurt. When I read your post, I had the same thought as Bug. Do you think it was from having the tube removed? Several times I have had something done, thought I was fine, and stood up to leave and went right back down again. I am so glad that you and Donna did not have any problems from the tornado. I hope you can enjoy something good for breakfast this morning. Take care.0

The dizziness this time could have been from that tube removal, but I just don't see how it could have lasted for hours afterward. Also, last week when the same thing happened when we were on our way home from the doctor and I had to go to the ER for the same thing. That was caused by mucus plugging the upper portion of my lungs keeping me from breathing. This time the ER at Vandy did a chest Xray and blood work but couldn't find a clear cause. I didn't have a mucus problem.
This morning as I sit here I have no issues, other than my belly being extremely sore from the tube removal.0 -
Greg, you have been walking through fire lately, haven't you? Sheesh! It isn't bad enough to undergo excruciating pain, you have to be dizzy too? I am truly sorry you had to go through that and praying it gets smoother every day. I can't imagine what made that dizzy spell last so long, although I wouldn't count out *stress.* Anxiety has a power of it's own. But, also, we DO use our stomach muscles when we breathe so maybe your body was instinctively taking shallow breaths so as not to move your tummy and cause more pain. It makes sense to me - I'm going with it! ;-)0
