I love music and I love messages. Did any of you have a favorite song that sustained you along your journey? A song that gave you hope? One that made you feel strong?

I think I have said before that one of my favorite songs at the beginning of this journey was "Oh My Soul" by Casting Crowns. It was literally one of the first songs that came on after the first time I heard the word cancer associated with MY BODY.

Oh, my soul
Oh, how you worry
Oh, how you're weary from fearing
You lost control
This was the one thing
You didn't see coming
And no one would blame you though
If you cried in private
If you tried to hide it away
So no one knows
No one will see
If you stop believing
Oh, my soul
You are not alone
There's a place where fear
Has to face the God you know
One more day
He will make a way
Let Him show you how
You can lay this down
'Cause you're not alone.

Even more a sign to me, Mark Hall (singer) wrote it when he had cancer. It's a very special song. You're NOT alone.

legaljen, this really is a very special song. I use music to give me strength too, and it depends on my mood. When I am pensive I love to listen to songs like the one you wrote out for us. And when I need to feel strong, like I am in control (of at least SOME things), I listen to Dire Straights, "Walk of Life." (and I dance to it all over my living room). :-)

Pauline, The Old rugged Cross makes me think of my grandmother, who taught herself to play the piano (by ear) and loved to play that song. It is a classic. In the Garden, is probably my favorite classic hymn.

For me, MercyMe's "You ARe I Am" holds a special place in my heart, as it encouraged me when I was first diagnosed with cancer. I remember sitting on the couch at my pastor's house as the radio played that song. HUGS and God bless.

@Marcie, GOOD "strong" song. Love "Walk of Life." I like Katy Perry's Roar. I also like Tauren Wells "Hills and Valleys." A great reminder that He is there, in the good and bad times.
@Pauline, Old Rugged Cross is one of the best old classics around.
I think my two favorite hymns are "It Is Well with My Soul" and "Great is Thy Faithfulness." And I definitely love "Amazing Grace"- pretty much every arrangement I have ever heard.
