Vitamin D levels

Where your Vitamin D levels low at the time of diagnosis? Are they low now? Does your physician check them yearly?
My level was 17 at time of diagnosis in 2014. It took nearly 2 years to get them above 30, the bottom level of normal.
This was copied from the National Institute of Health--
There is a well-documented association between vitamin D intake and the risk of breast cancer. Low vitamin D intake has also been indicated in colorectal carcinogenesis. A vitamin D deficiency has also been documented in patients with prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, as well as multiple myeloma.

When I was going through chemo in 2014, my oncologist suggested that I start taking Vit D to keep my levels where they should be.. That was a surprise to me. I thought that was one thing I didn't need to be concerned about. I started taking it then, and I am still taking it. He mentioned that there are studies that show it helps to prevent the return of cancer. I like that possibilty.

Yes! My oncologist told me there was high correlation between cancer and vit D (and most other illnesses) Mine was very low and she started me on a supplement even though I spend a great deal of time outdoors tending a very large year round garden and flowerbeds. She recommended a quality liquid vs tablet for better absorption. She said she suspects something-they havent figured out yet-keeps some people from being able to absorb natural vit D which makes us highly susceptible to various disease. She checks mine yearly with my blood work up and has had to up my dosage several times.0
