So, it looks like WhatNext is back up and running. I am so glad to see familiar faces and posters here. I am sorry to see so many people have been going through such hard times when the site was not operating correctly. We were still thinking about you all. This journey seems never ending. I think that's pretty accurate. Various paths may end, but there seems to be something around the bend all the time- whether it's learning about new treatment options, having to deal with recurrences and/or new cancers, or other medical issues that may or may not be related to our cancer.
Let's all do our best to keep things going. If we have to stay on top of the moderators to keep going, let's do it. This is OUR group.

legaljen, yes! I’m eager to see WN grow. I’m hoping the survey Colby sent out helps.0

I agree! Hope everyone had a great 4th of July! My daughter and I spent the day on the beautiful beach at Emerald Isle, NC with a few thousand of our closest friends! Soaked up the sun, had sand between our toes and a cold drink in our hands! It was a wonderful day for both of us!0

The 4th of July was so much better this year! We attended two yard parties (one on the 5th, but who really cares) and we got our cat inside early so we didn't have to worry about the firecracker noise scaring him off.
Personally, I'm not a fan of fireworks. I LOVE to see the public ones, but these various yard ones scare the heck out of pets and I just don't think they are worth the risk.
The best fireworks I ever experienced were set off over Greenfield Village while a major orchestra played Stars and Stripes (and various patriotic songs from the huge band shell. We brought coolers full of picnic food and listened to great music until it was dark enough - the best!0 -
Thank you, legaljen, for your enthusiasm and effort in keeping WN going.0

Teachertina, I hope you had a great time at Emerald Isle. My husband and I used to go there frequently when he was stationed at Camp Lejeune. It was a nice little "day trip."0

Agree with you MarcieB, fireworks should be left in the hands of those who know how to handle them. Many veterans have bad memories of war & bombs & the terrible noise caused by war, my partner is very nervous-- he remembers Vietnam.
Teachertina--- I am jealous, I miss the ocean, such wonderful memories of different oceans, and sands and of course cold drinks! Glad you had such a good time.
My Melanoma surgery is over, I am taking it easy for a while and hoping dr. got it all.

In so many places, fireworks are actually illegal (not the professional ones). With so many laws on the books, they need to enforce them. I guess it's sort of like gun laws. We don't enforce the ones we have to keep people safe, so then people call for complete elimination of them.0
-
Molly72, I’m glad your surgery is over.0

I'm not a fan of fireworks either. Our dog was inconsolable on July 4. We know many other dogs who are/were the same. And fireworks are so hard on some veterans. Add to that that California is very dry and has many fires each year. Fireworks just don't make sense in my opinion.0

Molly72, I'm glad surgery is behind you. I'm sending best wishes for smooth and speedy healing.0

I don't want to take credit for trying to keep things going. It has been a concerted effort by a number of people. I have been the least active. LOL
Right now, I am in hermit mode. I just don't want to see anyone or talk to anyone.
I wish everyone well, but I am comfortable in my shell these days.0 -
legaljen, I respect hermit mode - I go there often. My husband relates it to *going into a cave* (emotionally), and he knows I will come out when I am ready. I usually need to *go into the cave* after a particularly busy and/or stressful time. It's how I heal my soul.
Rest your spirit and check in with us when you feel inclined. We love your input, so we will patiently wait for you to emerge. ;-)0 -
legaljen, I second what MarcieB wrote. I too go into hermit mode sometimes. I hope all is well. Please lift that shell once in awhile and let us hear from you!0
