I'm worried about not getting treatments!

As this pandemic keeps chugging along forward, I'm seeing more and more hospitals, clinics, and treatment centers that have stopped seeing patients. Right now I can still go to mine but I have to go through a screening process each time to check my temp and answer a bunch of questions, but I'm OK with that. I'm just afraid they will shut down for a month. What will happen to me and my treatments? Will I have to start over? Will the cancer progress?

I missed 3 or 4 weeks of treatment several times back in 2015 because I developed very low blood counts. So missing a treatment now and then shouldn't causes problems. These are anxious times for all of us.

I didn't face anything like this while I was in treatment. I wouldn't think it would be a complete restart, but I'm sure that depends on a lot of factors. Some chemo can be done in pill form -- I don't know if yours is one that can be. As far as spreading, that would depend on your stage and grade, I'm sure. If I were there, I don't think my oncologist would push super hard depending on how far into chemo I was. He was ready to stop mine one early because of neuropathy. Also, my surgeon was very confident he had gotten everything. Good luck!

My advice is to turn the media off. Even the CDC recommends that, for the sake of mental health, one should access the news no more than twice daily. Look at what it is doing to your overall stress level.

We have been taught how to protect against the virus as best we can. What else do we truly need to know?

I listened to a Dr interview on Living Beyond Breast Cancer. He said oncologists will evaluate each person and do what is best for each of us.
    Praying for all of us!

I know this is a very stressful time for all of us, for this is like none of us have ever seen before. I did hear that life saving treatments are still going on; they just want to desuade elective surgeries like cosmetic ones for example. As for delaying treatment, I had to hold off on my second chemo treatment because I developed neutrorpenia (spelling). round 2 was due June 13, but I didn't have it until over a week and a half later because they wanted me to recover fully. HTH HUGS and God bless.

Child of God, can you get Neulasta shot the day after chemo? Now they put a patch on your arm that gives you the meds the next day. I know your chemo has to be at least 14 days apart to get that med.

I think in this situation it is better to talk with your doctor. If you're worried about your treatment then it is better to discuss with your doctor maybe he can arrange an emergency appointment for you.
    Best of luck!

I know this is old, but this virus thing isn't going to end soon. I've learned to not worry about what I have no control over. Have faith that in all of this that our treatments will be met as needed. Yes, all of this is stressful. I hate that the people I usually see at my treatments have found new areas; I have to wait in the car until called; no one smiles anymore. I'm just grateful that I'm here & have treatments however they've changed.
