It's 427.00 compared to 24.00 for the old prescription. Do these doctors not even know what this stuff costs? EVeryone just assumes that we are money loaded and nothing is a problem. Medical bankruptcy is the number one reason people file bankruptcy in the US, this is out of hand!

Big Pharma is out of control and will remain so until Congress acts. Of course, they're all too busy name calling one another and their main focus is getting re-elected not actually doing anything to help the American people. And how many elected officials are snuggly in Big Pharma's pocket?I
That is atrocious you were asked to pay that much. What did you do?0 -
Ditto Bengal. Let's hope people here vote those old goats in Congress who line their pockets with Pharma kickbacks, out in the next election! Most doctors are clueless about drug costs.
I was prescribed Eliquis (a heart medicine), last year and could not afford it. So I had to change my health insurance company to a Medicare Advantage Plan so I could get it. It's now only $130 for 3 months. It was $500+ for 1 month on the old plan. There are advantages & disadvantages to an "Advantage Plan"! Cheaper drugs are one of the good things in the plan.0 -
When your regular doctor changes your medication from one that costs $24 to one that costs $427 I'd suggest that you go to your computer and punch in dollarsfordocs.com. It can be quite an eyeopener. Monies paid by pharmaceutical companies are usually shown as" speaking engagements". The more they prescribe, the more the doctor makes. The information is broken down my year. Just type in your doctor's name. Don't misunderstand me, not all doctors do this - not even the majority. Did you contact the drug company for assistance? Quite often they provide the med for you. I hope you can find some relief. Best wishes.0

Get one of the free Rx discount cards. Get several then, take script to pharmacy. When they give you their price, ask them to see what the discounted costs will be if using a card. I did this after a pharmacy told me my script cost $1200. I handed them 3 cards which they ran with the best discount leaving me with a $289. charge which I forked over. I was fortunate it was a one time Rx and not recurring but, they can save you a lot of money if you don’t have prescription coverage.0

Generally it is free if your dr. prescribes 90 days and it is mailed to your house, assuming you are on Medicare. We get a year Rx and 3 months come at a time.0

It costs a drug company between 2-5 billion dollars, start to finish, to develop and bring a new drug to market. Most of them fail FDA approval, as they are not sufficiently superior to existing drugs. Government does not have that kind of money and will not cater, except in limited circumstances, to the rare cancers.
Now, there are other drugs and unless this is your last resort, I would go back down the list until an affordable drug is found. As well, there are samples that could be given you to test for effectiveness, and all drug companies have a "compassionate use" clause to help those with insufficient insurance or other resources. .0
