Thanks for supporting others by answering questions, offering advice and positive wishes! It does make a difference for them to see that other people have been there and are doing OK.

Pammyjo. That is so bad that you couldn't see out the window during your illness. I am lucky that the hospitals here all have somewhat of a view. However it would be pretty hard to build a window here that didn't have a view. One hospital stay my window looked out over part of the building that was a corridor to the other building since it was spring the Canadian Geese decided to nest on the roof under my window. All the rooms in the hospital are very tiny but they are private.0May 2016

I read what you wrote in answer to a question on Talcum Powder causing Ovarian Cancer... The lawyer that I called, took all my info and then said they couldn't take my case... I swear I've blamed the Shower to Shower product from the moment I was diagnosed ! Would you mind asking your attorney to contact me. Or give me his name and phone number so that I may contact him/her..?? Oh and as a word of encouragement.... I was DX Stage IV and given six months to live ten years ago when I was diagnosed at 62...I'm about to have my 73 birthday next month... It can be beaten...0April 2016

Hi, Pammyjo.
I'm glad you found me as we have similar diagnoses. I had to have 2 surgeries. My initial surgery in February was done by a gyno-oncologist, but cancer did not even seem to be on his mind. I had the hysterectomy done robotically, which required morcellation of the uterus/fibroid since it could not be removed thru the tiny incisions. I mention morcellation because in April, the FDA issued a recommendation that gyno surgeons refrain from the practice because it could spread cancer cells--I was so distressed about this when I read it in the news. 2 weeks after the surgery did I find out that pathology found the clear cell carcinoma in one ovary. Yes, this was at a regional hospital. So before making any decisions for next steps, I went to Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC which is where I ended up having a full open surgery for proper staging, where my new gyno-oncologist biopsied all lymph nodes, omentum, etc. and removed still considerable amounts of endometrial growths (which it is believed to cause inflammation leading to cancer).
Yes, Sloan Kettering strongly recommends the chemo because of my history of endometriosis, that the clear cell tumour is high grade and the fact that the initial surgery morcellated tissue inside of me that was possibly cancerous, thereby increasing chances that microscopic cancer cells were spread. I start chemo next week, even though I'm stage 1a and I had the hysterectomy, I want to know that I've done everything possible to eliminate the cancer that could possibly be elsewhere. I wish you well with the remaining treatments. Thank you so much for reaching out to me.

Hi Pammy Jo and welcome to the site. I know you're already asking questions and that's a great way to get involved. There are so many valuable references and a ton of information here. It's been helpful for me and I've made a few good friends along the way.
Our diagnoses are similar - although I'm stage IV - so if there's any part of my journey and experiences that would be helpful for you to know more about, I invite your questions. Just ask.
All the best,
