Welcome to the site. I am sure that you will find this a friendly place to come when you need someone to talk to. We are all in the same boat when it comes to emotions and feelings about our health. Just know that no question is to silly to ask and if you need to vent because you are having a bad day, we are here for you. I hope you find this site as helpful to you as it has been for me.

I read the post that you put on the wall of moonlight and I just had to let you know how much hope you have given me. Sometimes I get a little depressed because I am so unsure of what to expect. After reading that you are a 20 year survivor I know that I have a great chance of surviving this too. Thank you so much, you have changed my life.

You're right, I have known plenty of people who were diligent about their health and still managed to die too young. Then there are the others who smoke, drink, are overweight and do not exercise who live long lives. But I did not mean to say people should go on a "diet" but to maybe be mindful of what they put in their bodies. Attitude also seems to help a great deal. Be happy!!

I noticed you had commented on another post saying your teeth had to be removed and you were having trouble with dentures. I too have had all mine pulled and now being fitted for dentures, supposed to get them Thursday as a matter of fact. What troubles are you having with the dentures? I have worried that would be a problem for me too.l

Congrats on 19 years of life after being diagnosed with cancer. Welcome to the site. I think that you will find this a friendly place to come when you want to vent or sound off because you are having a bad day. Most of us have been there done that and used this as a sounding board. Everyone has been so nice to me and so helpful with information and just letting me sound off. You can also ask any kind of question you want because no question is silly or dumb when it comes to our disease. You have friends on this board who are ready, willing and able to help you with whatever advice or question you need answered. So don't be afraid to ask.

    Hi Junie1,

Thank you so much for responding to my question its so nice to have a place where I can ask a question even if it seems silly and get some answers and even a few laughs :) I had a partial masectomy back 13 yrs ago and the difference in my breast size didn't bother me to much. Like you I just dealt with it and went on with my life. I have such a hard time with my self image because thats all guys I ever dated were into were my looks or more to the point my chest. I one time had a guy tell me that I was his "trophy" so the guys I dated weren't interested in the fact that I actually did have a brain in my head. Hell even the older gents were just as bad as the younger ones. I had open heart surgery when I was 11 yrs old (39 yrs ago now) and that scar never bothered me, I went right back to wearing v neck shirts and everything right from day one. I had my fair share of guys who were grossed out by my heart scar and they only saw about 1/2" or so if it so they would never call again. The guys who it didn't bother were basically few and far between. I never let that scar bother me but this scar, this masectomy scar is different. I lost something and thats why I have this scar, something was taken from me and if I can't deal with it then how is anyone else gonna deal with it? Everyone here is so nice and I appreciate all the kind encouraging words from you :) I know that I seem to be whining and for that I am sorry. I am still cycling through so many emotions right now and believe me the urge to rip someones throat out at times is so strong lol. How do you do it, go about your life and not let it get to you? If I can go just a few minutes without crying or wanting to hit something I consider that to be good. Thankfully I have a dog who just loves me regardless of how I look. He is the sweetest thing in the world and extremely protective of me. When I am really sad and in need of a hug he will come over and give me his little paw as if it say hold my hand and I will help make it all better for you. I am just so thankful for all your kind words and encouragement. I am looking forward to following you and seeing what your up to and how your doing. Seeing others who have moved past this and are going on with their lives helps me to move on in my own. Thanks again for your encouraging words.
