Yesterday I posted a question. Well, to be more accurate, I wrote out a question which I thought would be posted here. I got the pop-up that said - Your question has been posted. but it wasn't posted here (where I wrote it out). Instead it appeared on my wall. On my homepage. And, of course, there was no notice, so no one saw it except Jen, who was looking for it. It was a serious question about censorship, even though I tried to present it in a humorous light. So, I guess I got my answer. Be careful how you phrase things here.

    Marcie, it has occurred me that may that word attracts spammers and malcontents to post things that might require a lot of monitoring and deletion. It's unfortunate that people are so immature that they would post garbage. I just wonder if for some reason that's why they block it.
    I still think it is an anatomically correct term and there should be no reason for censoring but.... I am learning quickly just through trying to do my Facebook thing that there are all kinds of creepy people who want to take over well meaning pages and support forums.

    You know what? I bet you are right. I wish we had thought about that when we were doing the survey? I think it would be so helpful if they posted *ground rules* and told us why they were in place. I don't think any of us would mind avoiding those terms if it were explained. I think a lot of us are just wondering why terms like vagina are okay (I'm sure spammers toss that word around too), and the male equivalent is a no-no. This site is available to men too, and I know there are cancers which may compromise those parts...maybe men just don't discuss their problems as much as women?

    Yes, I would think an anatomically correct word on a medically related site would be acceptable.

    I've never figured out what is correct. I have to laugh, tho. I grew up in a very crude environment; married a sailor, etc. Socially, I was a disaster. I learned the hard way. I agree, what is anatomically correct.
    Marcie, what survey? I missed something, but I guess it's ok.
