Life just keeps throwing curve balls at us, and the occasional knuckle ball

We have to deal with cancer, then the stupid virus, and now last night a line of storms came through our area taking down trees all along the way. Our lights were out from 4 yesterday afternoon until 130 this morning. We were fortunate to not have any storm damage though. All around us people had damage. Trees down everywhere, on cars and houses, roofs torn off.
Did any of you have this in your area as this storm passed across the US?

We had a short quick storm on Saturday --- dramatic, but no widespread damage that I've heard about.0

I thought about you when they talked about storms over TN. I'm so glad that you didn't have any damage. That would have been just too much for you and Sweetie to have to deal with right now.0

No, glad you are ok. Storms seem to be intensifying down south. Stay save.
But now watch out for the huge "Murder Wasp", that creature is enough to give everybody nightmares.0 -
We had terrific wind last Thursday. It was scary. I had just spent the better part of a day toggling my deer fence around the garden, severely wrecked by winter, back together. As I was lying in bed in my upstairs bedroom waiting for the roof to lift off I knew what I was going to find the next day. Yep. Trashed. And, it don't rain but it pours. That was also the night I discovered my hot water heater was leaking all over the basement floor. Like we don't have enough on our plates. Glad you avoided damage, Greg. You have enough to deal with. Along with everything else, it seems the weather is getting worse and more unpredictable all the time.0

Here in coastal SC we didn't really get any storms yet. I am sure they are coming though. My thoughts are with all of you having to deal with so many storms. That is scary stuff.
People always say "I don't know how you live where they have so many hurricanes." Well, we know about them for days on end and can get prepared in case they do actually land. Most of the time it's a lot of hysteria over virtually nothing.
I think that's why I have not been so freaked out over coronavirus. I know it's completely different, but we on the coast live in a constant state of "do we, don't we, should we, shouldn't we" from about mid-August through the first part of October typically. We go through the hoarding, the price gouging, the mass hysteria of "the government needs to tell us what to do" and the people who have yearly "hurricane parties."
Anyhow, I hope those of you in the lines of sudden pop up tornadoes do not sustain any damage, and if you do- I hope it's not much.

We didn't get anything in the DFW area this time. We have had our share of bad storms this spring though. Fortunately, we have been safe. Winds, hail, tornadoes ... ugh. And heat. We have been in the 90s lately. Not ready for the heat!!!0

There are still people in my area with no electricity. Going on 2 days how. An enormous amount of trees have been blown down. FB is covered with pictures of trees laying on houses, cars, roads, etc.
This had me and Donna talking about people like us that need electricity in case of a medical emergency, and some people need electricity for oxygen machines and other medical devices. Do any of you have a back-up generator because of your medical issues?0 -
Greg-- We have a generator, almost a necessity where we live. Not for medical issues, just for
daily living needs when the power goes out.
You need an electrician to set things up, there are different types available, and they are worth the money spent, especially if you need oxygen or a medical device.0 -
Molly, we have one too. It's a portable and stuffed in my shop somewhere. But we used it for almost a week once when there was another storm issue a few years ago. I have our electric box wired so I can plug into it outside and power what we need inside. I can only run one of the big electric users at a time, along with a bunch of lights, TV. and receptacles. But, it's better than not having anything. It would be nice to have one of those automatic systems from Generac. But that's another 15K situation.0
