This might be a stupid question but does antibacterial soap work as well as plain soap?

I went to fill my hand soap bottle and I noticed that it said "antibacterial" The coronavirus is a virus not a bacteria. So should I use hand sanitizer after I wash to kill the virus?

As far as I know, and that's not much, the anti-bacterial is better than just plain soap. As for killing a virus, I defer.

Most such sanitizers contain triclosan as the active ingredient. That may have changed, since tests showed that bacteria must be exposed to it for a considerably longer time than hand washing.

A good, foamy lather seems to be what is recommended.

An "antibacterial" will have no effect on a virus. The recommended 20 second hand wash with warm water and soap, often, is your way bet.

Regular hand soap will do the job - no need to use a hand sanitizer afterwards.
