Forgive me for being nosey. I saw your from Granite City. I'm from Jacksonville Il. I think my older brother lived there in his childhood years. I'm sorry about Leslie. She looked like a very nice person. I hope you are doing fine. I glad yours was caught early. I hope for a good outcome for you.

Wishing you the best on your surgery Wednesday. I am 4 weeks out from surgery and healing well. I had a lot of dread prior to the procedure but have done very well with the exception of bladder spasms. It's not as bad as I expected. Make sure you take the pain meds to stay comfortable and know that it won't be as bad as you expect. We are here for you....If you need anything at all ....

Sorry you have to go through this. I'm sure you know your treatment will be determined by your stage. My husband was stage II, had surgery, no chemo, and never had a recurrence. I am stage IIIa. I had surgery and mild (mostly oral) chemo with minimal side effects. My scans and bloodwork this month were clear. My biggest advice is to find a doctor/onocologist you really like to help in whatever decisions you have to make. Best wishes to you in treatment and recovery.

Reading your post to kathyives, I was sorry to learn your wife had died of pancreatic cancer. As I mentioned in my post to you, my husband had been a 17 year survivor of colon cancer, but he died of something else last year. I think being a caregiver is much harder than having cancer myself. I put off my surgery for over a year to take care of him. It's possible my cancer advanced over that time, but I would not have made any other decision. I finally had surgery when it appeared he was stable and improving, but he died about six weeks later. Then I had chemo and my scans and bloodwork were normal this month. It was sort of hard going through this by myself, but I had friends give me rides when I needed them and mostly I had oral chemo, so it wasn't too bad. I hope you are in an early stage and again best wishes for the future.

My son saw a medical program while I was being treated and the doctor on the program said if you have to have cancer - colon is the best one to get Congratulations on having the best cancer All kidding aside This will be a tough year for you but it will be manageable Let us know how we can help.
