Hi MaryEdythe, I agree, it's hard enough to deal with cancer emotionally but when you also have to deal with sickness from chemo it makes the battle that much worse. Take heart in the fact that the chemo is helping you fight the fight ! So you're having surgery a week after me ? I happen to like having to be at the hospital very early.#1 the Dr.is fresh from the weekend. #2 I will be up all night anyway from nerves, which means I will be a little "out of it" from no sleep. I'll be a little calmer just from exhaustion !
I wish you the very best outcome and an quick recovery. Good luck. Thanks for your good wishes and prayers. I will post how it went as soon as I can. Take care of yourself you'll be in my prayers. Zoe

Wow, MaryEdythe! What a powerful answer you gave Carol about the attitudes/positive energy around cancer! And my heart broke to hear about your friend's son who died at football practice! I used to work for cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgeons and what he died from is silent, unknown - like a ticking time bomb - inside some very otherwise healthy young people. If they are lucky enough to find out about it, they can be saved. But so many have no clue!

That part of your answer sobered me for sure - but it is life.

And I SO agree with all of your answer! I've thought that, as well; everone (EVERYONE!) is going to die...we just are on different points on the time line, perhaps. Now that I've had three cancers in 18 months (and am back on chemo for a recurrence of ovarian - had so much fun the first time, I'm doing it again!) - I choose to be happy, to be joyful, to be positive and embrace life! I actually am grateful to cancer for many reasons! And that joy of life, that optimism, is beating it!!

I had my 3rd chemo today; not feeling well already. But after a week or so, it will pass. I tell myself that however awful I feel, those greedy cancer cells that are slurping up ALL that "tasty" chemo (carboplatin and Avastin) are DYING, and I am living!! How utterly cool is that?!!

God bless you!! And thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    Linda

Hi MaryEdythe. My PCP hasn't responded to my email. Very unusual for her. She usually answers first thing in the morning. Will wait until tomorrow. I was calling her about the MRSA. As far as the surgery goes I must admitted to being surprised at how well it has gone up to this point. By the way, I read nothing ignorant in your comment. I hope your surgery goes well. Take care.

MayEdythe, Washington state law mandates health insurance coverage for wigs for chemo patients. Patients treated at University of Washington Medical Center and/or Seattle Cancer Care Alliance can get free wigs from Beauty and Cancer (at UW Medical Center) or Shine (at SCCA). I decided I didn't want a wig, but I was given all kinds of chemo headwear, free of charge.

Good luck with getting your appointment sooner, waiting is the worst. I feel better since my surgery, it seems like at least something was finally done after all those months of waiting. I start chemo Tuesday.

Hi MaryEdythe, I did have my surgery last Friday, I came home Sunday evening. Today is the first day I got dressed and went on a road trip to the grocery store. Actually the first day I've been up all day. Starting to feel better. I did talk to a Dr in the hospital who said my surgery went as planned, no problems, call in a week for the results. So I don't know the staging yet. When is your surgery?

    Thanks Mary Edytha:

That was so true what you gave me in response to my spouse. He does work and in the social service field as well. You're absolutely right--I refuse to accept any unnecessary stress.

hi MaryEdythe of course you can write me. Sounds like you have a rough road coming up please write everyone and let us know how you are coming along with your appt's and all before surgery. I had heavy bleeding myself and clots it was gross and tiring I worked thru it all embarrassing as it was at work an at home, constantly cleaning myself and the sheets, even had a clot come out on the floor at work....I have to say with my hysterectomy three months ago despite a cancer diagnosis I do not miss any of the bleeding. So that my dear is something to look forward to and you will feel better about that aspect of the whole picture. I had stage 1b grade 2. My tumor was inside the uterus and was 80% inside the uterine wall.....if it went outside then i'd be stage 2 that's what I was told all this info was too much for me. But I made it thru and the last three months often seem like years but I am so grateful. You look like a sweet person and God will take care of this but from your other health issues one thing at a time. The doctors know what they are doing they are not going to keep you home bleeding they will find action for this. My doctor gave me something to help with the bleeding about a week before surgery but after taking one pill it sort of made me loopy and I got nervous taking it I figured I was bleeding for so long why take the pill....I threw it out but it sounds like what you're taking from the spelling. Get some rest keep your feet up maybe there is a patio or balcony you can sit and get some fresh air....I started acupuncture two weeks ago and the woman is teaching me how to meditate as I'm not a relaxed person by nature. I am hoping this helps me get thru things. My follow up is in September. I now do internal dilation which is making my vagina sore but I've got to do it and suck it up and be a big girl about it I have nothing to complain about overall. Keep in touch anytime I usually check the account at night after work or periodically over the weekend. I live in a crazy neighborhood during the 4th of July they love their fireworks... try to enjoy the little moments and after each appointment remember you are one step closer to recovery.,,,,
