I have to tell you that my mother had been in a nursing home several times over the years. She preferred to be in one closer to home, so that the family would visit more often. It definitely wasn't the best place, but being able to check up on her often was worth it. They seem to take better care of the patients that they know have family who are interested in their loved one's care. I was able to visit my mother the day after my first chemo treatment, and act like I felt fine. Of course, she knew better, but it relieved her to see that I was still alive. Good luck to you.0August 2013

Shelby,
When cancer first became a part of my life my mother was stricken with Alzheimer's.I took care of her until I no longer could. She had to be put in care. She and I were alone in the world. I had nobody else but the caregiver I was paying to take care of her during the day while I did at night. It could not have continued with me sick as well.

Looking forward to seeing and "after coloring" picture. My cousin just posted one with her hair bright red. One of the teens at last night's karate had bright blue streaks.0August 2013

Thank you for responding! You are the first. I am trying to figure out the site. With my neuropathy typing is slow. I am reading and finding joy. Sometimes bittersweet, often I see strength. Take care!0August 2013

Hello!
GregP_WN suggested I ask you from your experience in insurance admin about whether applying for short term disability insurance while undergoing chemo will give me problems later (if I have a recurrence or need to use the insurance again at some time in the future.) I can work some right now, but it would be easier if I could get get my full salary. Of course, I'd hate to claim the insurance now if I will really need it later.
I've referenced the question here. Thank you so, so much!

Thank you but I am really frustrated with this women because small cell never has surgery and many of the things she is reporting are impossible as protocol for Lung cancer. especially small cell.
I know I just lost it today.0July 2013 -

My job ran my sick leave concurrent with my FMLA. Is that lawful? FMLA is suppose to be unpaid leave isn't it? Thank you for your response.0June 2013

Hi, BuckeyeShelby. I have seen some of your posts in the past and just wanted to tell you that I really appreciate them. They are humorous without being flip. I feel very weighted down sometimes and your injection of humor is very much appreciated. : )0June 2013

I went through the lack of oxygen after surgery following a vehicular collision. Before being diagnosed I was completely honest with my anaesthesiologist for the D and C. This may be nothing compared to your experiences and what I am about to experience, again, I am a rookie, but my fear of anaesthesia has gone on for years. He did not mock me, but treated me with respect. I found I could trust him. It was only Versed and a nerve block but for me it was a major hurdle no longer a hurdle.0June 2013
