Hi there I really appreciate your message to me. I am 37. I have 2 kids (6 & 8). I've been married for 15 years. Back in the summer a bump came up on the underside of my tongue (right side). I didn't think much of it. It didn't hurt and I figured it would disappear the same way it appeared. Well it for bigger and changed in appearance and started to hurt so I went to the doctor in October. He wanted to remove it so I went in on November 4 to have the lesion removed or biopsied. My doctor said he felt like he got it all but would call me when pathology report came in. It was cancer. So he sent me to UAB (University of Birmingham) to an oncologist that does nothing but oral cancer. I went to this guy thinking the other doctor got it all but when I got there he informed me that it was still there and he wants to so surgery and a neck dissection. He wants to do scans first but we didn't have insurance. Our insurance was supposed to start in January. So I was shocked. We started with their financial aid and got covered for charity care just before Thanksgiving. I've got set up appointment to get scans done tomorrow. Then we'll know if its spread or whatever. Its been an emotional roller coaster. I have many people that love and support me but I feel so alienated from them. I do feel alone. My faith is strong so I do feel that God is right by my side. I'm not sure what lies before me. Right now I've been strong for everyone else, reassuring them and telling everybody I'm gonna be just fine but I really don't know that. This sucks! I could go on but don't want to end on negativity so...... My God is greater than cancer! I am thankful for you for reaching out to me! It means a lot! Thank you! My name is Hollie.0November 2015

Good luck on your MRI, I know how you feel. Its seems after your jump over one hurdle there's another. I had surgery 5 months ago on my left tonsil area and left neck dissection. The lymphadema does make everything very tight. It may be scar tissue. Left us know how you do. Stay strong and positive.0August 2014

I hope for a quick recovery for you and resolution. I also was rx with SCC earlier this year on my tongue. Had several surgeries, after those recovery seemed to be going well. Somehow contracted an abscess infection in surgical site and have been fighting for a month having another surgery to clean up. Another flare up earlier this week, was very distraught, but accepted and am trying to stay positive. The important thing is try and get through each hour, day, task, one at a time and know you're doing your best. It is very difficult to get through these setbacks, but we need to trust in our ability to heal and move forward. Stay strong and know there is always someone here to support you in your journey. Good luck and think good thoughts.0August 2014
