Hi I have completed two yers cancer free journey on 16 the April 2015. I am on the same boat with. So happy journey !!

I can not understand how most patients of cancer can keep up with all the medical termonoligy. I was luckly to remember all my appointments. To be honest , I still do not really understand it all. Maybe I just had to much other stuff going on in my life. Ijust dont know.

I was able to see the doctor last Friday. I thought I was going to have to choose which type of surgery I wanted to have, to improve my voice. I found out I was not eligible at all. I had already lost half my vocals due to the cancer. The radiation I had is slowly taking the other half. My eating is impaired as well as my breathing. The voice is low and scratchy.
I was told, back in Jan. 2013, that I would possibly come out of surgery with a tracheotomy. I have had 2 blessed years with this voice, and no tracheotomy. I thank god for these 2 years. A new way of life ahead. Look out world!
Any information about the tracheotomy would be welcomed.

Hi Dan - I understand you had hyperbaric treatment - I am about to start - any advise? I have a seroma from surgery and they are hoping this will speed up the healing of it.

Hi the patient in our home is our 39 yr old son. He had surgery removing 1/3 of his tongue and the floor of his mouth as well as a neck dissection 3 weeks ago. Today he had his teeth pulled and Friday we meet with the chemo oncologist. We have all ready met with the radiation Dr. They are proposing Rad 5X a week with chemo 1X a week. Looking to start 2nd week in May after mouth heals. Wow this has been scary stuff, we don;t know any of the "terms" but I am sure we will know them better then we care to.

Is the Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment you underwent doing any good? Also would you consider it a treatment within the natural path since it uses oxygen? Thank you and be well.

Thank you and hello Welderdan! I am really terrified of the things to come. And I am trying to not let fear of the unknown take over. But when I read your postings and others it does prepare you for whats to come. I am hanging in there and my spirits are still high. I have a lot of support and am thankful for it all. And being on this website I am so happy to know that I am not alone in this long journey. But I am with others that can truly relate. Sorry I deleted your original posting....still learning this website lol.

Can u help me for oesophgeal speech ? If u give me some advises for practicing oesophgeal speech, it would be very much helpfull to me. Thanking u.

So I did some research but the thing that leads me back to myoclonus it the fact that you notice it when your head is tilted downward. I have attached a link for you to look at and they describe it in about the same way as it is triggered by certain movements. If this does sound familiar, you might want to print it out and ask your oncologist what he might think about it. I hope this helps, Carm RN.
